Library Scan Missing Files

Hello,

I'm currently running PMS 9.11.1 on Windows 7.
I'm having an issue where my library scan doesn't seem to find all of my files. I have reviewed the Plex Naming convention guide, as well as TheTVDB.com to find the exact name they use. The files are what I believe fall into the "Standard Television Series" category (via https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/200220687-Naming-Series-Season-Based-TV-Shows)

The odd part is, the scan detects 21 of the 30 files, yet all 30 files are using the same naming convention. I looked through the scanner logs, and see where it's creating the files for some, but never see it created for others (the ones missing), yet I do not see any errors (or at least any obvious errors) for the files that end up missing post-scan.

Here are some key datapoints and the scanner log files attached. Hopefully it's just a stupid error on my side.

- PMS 9.11.1
- File path for the parent directory is:
          F:\TV_Shows\WrestleMania\WrestleMania\Season.1
- Example of working file is located at:
         F:\TV_Shows\WrestleMania\WrestleMania\Season.1\Wrestlemania X\WWF Wrestlemania 10 CD 1.avi
         F:\TV_Shows\WrestleMania\WrestleMania\Season.1\Wrestlemania X\WWF Wrestlemania 10 CD 2.avi
- The respective info I see from the log files that appears to be "working" is shown below. The section in Green never appears for the files in the broken example below.

Nov 26, 2014 21:33:41:345 [7472] DEBUG -       * Scanning Wrestlemania Season 1 Episode 10
Nov 26, 2014 21:33:41:345 [7472] DEBUG - Looking for path match for [F:\TV_Shows\WrestleMania\WrestleMania\Season.1\Wrestlemania X\WWF Wrestlemania 10 CD 1.avi]
Nov 26, 2014 21:33:41:346 [7472] DEBUG - Looking for path match for [F:\TV_Shows\WrestleMania\WrestleMania\Season.1\Wrestlemania X\WWF Wrestlemania 10 CD 2.avi]

- Example of missing file is located at:

      F:\TV_Shows\WrestleMania\WrestleMania\Season.1\Wrestlemania V\WWF Wrestlemania 5.avi

- Note that below, instead of seeing the output i put in green font above, the missing file shown below scans, but then just goes onto the next directory (instead of actually adding anything)

Nov 26, 2014 21:33:41:329 [7472] DEBUG -     * Scanning directory F:\TV_Shows\WrestleMania\WrestleMania\Season.1\Wrestlemania V (parent: yes)

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks
Matt

I had a similar issue, using windows, i now use file bot. I simply open file bot, drag the file or files if there all the same "tv" or "movies" into file bot, click match, choose tv or movies  and it will find the correct file name, then click rename, and it does it for you, then refresh plec library, see what happens. It worked for me. Good luck, ohh and the filebot, is free here

https://www.filebot.net/download.php?mode=s&type=nsis

once you click the link, just wait for the download, dont click anything on the page.

Thanks howell7663,

I had read about filebot and naming conventions, but figured "hey, since all my files are named similarly, and it's finding some and not the others, maybe i'm doing something else wrong or missing something".

I'll give filebot a shot, and see how that does. Will report back my findings.

To update the forum, looks like FileBot did the trick.
Gotta say, wish I knew why :)
Guess it just goes to show that even if you think you have the exact file structure and naming correct, maybe something else is missing. Trust the machines, not your instinct I suppose.

Thanks Howell7663
