Library scan removes tv content

Server Version#: 1.40.5.8921
Player Version#: unknown
I just did a library scan on my TV and the scan removed 30% in its first pass. I thought I did something wrong so I re-did the scan and the the remaining 68% was removed in the second scan. I now only have about six TV shows left. Please add a restore previous version in the tools (with a reason to roll back question, so when this happens we can get our server working again and you guys know what went wrong). Can anyone help me with finding how to do a manual roll back? The last time I did one was on a Mac about 12 years ago, now i’m back on a windows.

Are your media files stored on an external hard drive, or maybe a file server/NAS?

Sorry for any confusion. It’s the library that has shrunk when doing a scan. (The actual files are still on the NAS).

I thought so.

Are you allowing your hard drives to spin down while they’re idle?
If you do, you want to disable “Empty trash automatically after every scan”.

Also, if your file names and the folder organization of your tv show files don’t follow the recommended structure, adding more files may sometimes to cause Plex to misrecognize whole folders of files as belonging to the same series/ or even episode.

Thanks, No NAS drive seams to be spinning all the time. I have been a member since start up so file names are not an issue, but I have found now that my PC with Plex Server cant find my NAS dive as a drive letter now. This is why the server thinks I don’t have anything. I can still access the NAS settings menu through the IP address just not the drive letter. So that is my next issue to fix.

I’ve seen enough samples and logs of long-time users to take that conclusion with a ton of salt.

Does the Plex icon appear in the task tray area? If it doesn’t, PMS could be running under a different Windows user account.
And drive letters for network shares are stored in the user account.
If you stop PMS, log out of Windows, reboot the machine, then first log into the user account that you are regularly using, are the drive letters back?

Maybe you want to switch to UNC paths instead. These are a requirement anyway if you are running PMS as a Windows service.

I finally got it all working again. I had to remove my network connection (where I had the issue with) and re-instate that drive again. Once that was done, I was able to re-scan my TV library and all is coming back now with the details of whats watched and whats not, so all is good. Not sure if the update had some affect but I was able to roll back to a known working version, which I will stay with for now
