Restoring deleted TV shows from library - how to?

Hi All,
I’ve been trying to restore few files that I’ve deleted from within the Plex app on Windows, from the Plex database. The files are still on my QNAP NAS, but they are no longer detected upon a library scan.
I’ve tried “the dance” from related article I’ve found here on the forum, still I am unable to display the files again in the Windows Plex client.
Is it a bug from current version of Plex? Am I missing something here in the process of restoring the files?
Thanks for any help on this!!

Have you followed all steps of the Plex Dance procedure in sequence?

Yes I did.
In fact, I followed following steps, some I have some doubts about the actions to perform:

  1. Open File Station
  2. Move the item (TV Series or Movie or Music) to a safe location PMS doesn’t monitor (any other share will do) => what do you call a “share”? What I did is move the content to another folder on the same hard drive, a folder that is not used as a library by Plex.
  3. Update libraries => I suppose this means “rescan library folder for new content”
  4. Empty Trash => for the library only or for the whole Plex server?
  5. Clean Bundles (this removes the entries from the database and the metadata info) => I get this option only for the wole server
  6. Move the media back into its original location
  7. Update Libraries again => I suppose this means “rescan library folder for new content”

My content is not exactly named like advised through Plex online guides, still it used to be detected before I clicked “delete” through the Plex client on my PC.

Thanks for any advice!

A “share” is usually referring a logical folder on a NAS that’ll appear as its own “drive”. A folder outside the ones linked to your library will do.

yes

emptying the trash for that library will do

correct

correct.

Can you give one example of how your content is labeled? I have a pretty good eye for whether a show will be detected and show up on Plex. I don’t know how you got it to work before now, but now if it’s a new file and it is not labeled properly, Plex will refuse to detect and display it.

This may be relevant, since if it worked in the past several things may have happened in the time since that means the files would not be recognized now. The way ti recognized files might have changed, and your old style of naming a file is no longer possible. Or you had them named properly, and after it got matched you renamed the file. For the last option, Plex will detect the name change and hold onto the association with a particular episode, but once gone may not be able to pick it back up if removed.
