Hi all, i have a movies library in my pms. When i delete a movie from the folder where its stored, then when i refresh the library, I’m still seeing the thumbnail for the movie. This happens for all movies i delete. How do i fix this?
Empty the trash → https://support.plex.tv/articles/200289326-emptying-library-trash
Edit your library
go to the “Add Folders” tab
verify that each and every folder path listed there, is
- existent
- accessible to Plex server
- not completely empty
The action labeled “Refresh” is doing something different. https://support.plex.tv/articles/200289306-scanning-vs-refreshing-a-library/
Use “Scan Library Files”, followed by “Empty Trash”
Dokuro, this didn’t work.
Otto, sorry i meant “scan library files”. But your suggestion didn’t work either. ![]()
Ok i managed to fix it. I went into the Edit section of the library and went into Add Folders. There was a path in there that didn’t actually exist. I removed it. But i don’t understand how this fixed it since the folder didn’t exist.
If there are movies in a path, then the entire path becomes empty, plex will assume that something went wrong and it lost access to that drive/path and not remove everything. Great for when there are network hiccups and mapped locations are temporarily inaccessible. However in your case it was intentional. The only way plex will assume that the missing location should be removed is by removing it from the add folders section of your library.
I don’t quite follow. But is there a setting that will have the library show me only the files that are actually there?
Plex is not a file browser.
Ok. Thanks everyone for your help.
