Life time membership

Is the life time membership not Ad free?

No, this isn’t Hulu. As you should expect, if something is free then it’s going to have ads. Lots of them.

I have a paid subscription

Yeah, I got that. My point being that the movies and TV shows from Plex are free as in everyone can watch them but you have to suffer the ads accordingly.

Plex Pass gets you other features but only your own media is free to watch.

so what is the point of a membership?

See What is Plex Pass?

Its a Lifetime Plex Pass

And I quote

Plex Pass is available in monthly, yearly and lifetime subscriptions.

No matter how you choose pay for it, it’s the same Plex Pass feature set.

OK, got it. I had expected ad free

I will cancel the subscription, No point to have it with ads

I don’t think you quite get what plex pass is for pfeilitzen_bellsouth_net, it’s focus is the plex media server; being able to access your library away from your home network. Sync (and recently changed to simply download) your media away from home network. Along with all the organization tools that encompasses.

The other extras, which you get plex pass or not, such as the Movies and TV Shows (if Plex didn’t put ads there, they simply wouldn’t have bothered to give us this new addition), are something that everyone has access to. An optional bonus section of media that you can consume as a live television/movie broadcast. Think of it similar to cable TV, which also has commercials.

Plex pass is a pretty big deal to many of us regarding OOH (out of home) utility, such as hardware based transcoding and sync’ing to your other devices remotely. Plex needs revenue to keep these services continually updated and enhanced.

Since I’ve been a lifetime subscriber, Plex has released so much new content I can’t keep track of it all. I initially got the lifetime only for remote sync and stream capabilities and that was it. They have other utilities such as Plexamp, they’ve added podcasts, along with the TV shows and Movies that are streamed live.

If you’re someone who doesn’t care so much about remote streaming/sync’ing then go with the free version, and if you find you’re limited in what you can do, think about if plex pass will be worth it in the future, maybe your needs will change over time.

As a lifetime member, you also get access to all of the Plex Apps catalog, including early access, and on devices such as android and iOS, you don’t need to pay to get access to each app (which I believe some Plex Apps require a one time payment to unlock without plex pass, so keep that in mind as well).

Please read up on the information instead of repeating yourself and ignoring what others have responded to you with.
