Lifetime plex pass account

  1. Lifetime Plex Pass account
  2. Server API confirms subscriptionActive="1" and DVR features present
  3. Plex Web UI still shows DVR upsell screen
  4. Fresh install of Plex Media Server did not resolve it
  5. macOS iMac, latest Plex version

and I try to add live tv/dvr plex tells me that I need a lifetime pass but I do have one

Please provide the Server Logs in debug mode only!

I’m not a big techie, i will work on it (i stumble through things). Also, is there a way that i can reinstall the plex server so it looks like a brand new installation with my lifetime pass? I have our recordings on a NAS so i could just add the library to the new installation. When i just install the plex server on a different machine it seems that the plex servers remember all the settings & info from the previous installation.

Suggest you let someone familiar with live tv/dvr look at the log files before going nuclear and completely deleting the server. If it is a bug in PMS, you might hit it again when re-installing.

  1. Ensure the server is configured for debug, not verbose, logs
See How to Enable Debug Logging
  2. Restart Plex Media Server.
Give it time to fully start and log the startup sequence.
  3. Re-create the problem.
  4. Pull the log files (settings → troubleshooting) and post the entire zip file to the thread.

Plex DocumentationUninstall Plex Media Server

  1. Completely uninstall Plex Media Server (see documentation).
  2. If listed, remove the server from Authorized Devices.
Also remove any old, outdated server entries.
  3. Reboot the system
  4. Re-install Plex Media Server.

Plex servers are independent of each other. A server is not aware of the libraries, settings, etc. on another server.

Example: You have two Plex servers, PMS1 & PMS2. PMS2 has no knowledge of the libraries, settings, etc. on PMS1 (and vice versa).

However, if the “different machine” previously ran Plex Media Server and that old installation was not completely removed, the new installation will see the settings, etc. from the old installation.

Example: At some previous point in time, the PMS2 system had Plex Media Server installed, “PMS2-old.” If PMS2-old was not completely uninstalled, when PMS is re-installed, “PMS2-new,” it may still see the settings, etc. from PMS2-old.

To remedy the situation, perform a complete uninstall/re-install on PMS2.

I figured out that if i go into the guide for my server i can both watch recordings and schedule recordings of new tv shows (i have a silicone dust hd homerun with 4 receivers). I i go to the plex guide then I’m not able to schedule recordings and the guide is grayed out for ABC, NBC, CBS & FOX (they’re not on my server). now that I can schedule recordings and watch live tv I’m not worried about adding the plex tv/dvr which i think is already on my server. It’s all very confusing.
