Like many others, I have lost connection to my server after password reset from breach

Server Version#: 1.28.2.6106-1
Player Version#:

Like many other it seems I have lost connection to my server after resetting my password as requested after the data breach. At first the server still showed the server but if I clicked on a library it would say I was no longer authorized (I didn’t grab a screenshot but I saw the same error in screenshots posted by others here). So I removed the server from the authorized devices page thinking that maybe I could add it back, but there is no where to add it back. I uninstalled and re-installed the server from my Manjaro Linux server, but it still doesn’t show back up. But the service is running fine and I can still bring up the webpage fine, it just only shows me remote content from Plex and does not show my local server that is serving up the webpage.

It sounds like you need to reclaim your server. When I updated my password, all my local content was unavailable, which sounds like the same issue you are having.

So, I’m not a expert with Plex, but I’ve used it for a while now, and this is my understanding of things. Going to app.plex.tv is not going to your server. Also, the page at app.plex.tv is not being served up by your local server. That webpage is being hosted by Plex, which links to your server. If you were to shutdown your local server, and go to app.plex.tv you could still login and watch remote content.

To get to your server you can use http://127.0.0.1:32400/web if you are working from the physical machine the server resides on. If you are on a different machine you will need to use the Plex server IP such as http://your ip here:32400/web This will take you to the server. I believe you will need to log in with the new password for the first time connecting. It is, after all, a computer logging into your Plex account. After that go to the wrench in the top right corner. Now go to General under the settings section on the left. Make sure you are in the “Settings” section and not the “Plex Web” section for general. Now you should see “Claim Server” click this and wait for it to finish. Tada, you have your local content back!

besides the info given above there are links to claiming and trouble shooting claiming in the link in the banner at top of forum

I’m definitely logging in to my local server (http://manjarodesktop.beef.pad:32400/web/index.html#!/settings/web/general), and unless I’m seriously blind, I’m just not seeing any place to ‘reclaim’ my server. I’m sure I’ve had to reconnect my server in the past, I’ve been using Plex for a long time, but I’ve never had a situation like this where I could log into the server, yet not access it or the libraries.

I don’t believe I’m seeing the links in any banner that you’re referring to. I see quite a few posts that seem similar and have a variety of things to try for specific installations. I’ll try searching for reclaim and read through some more posts and see if I can find anything that helps me.

I found the 3rd party reclaim it script and ran that. Appears to have fixed my issue.

Do you see your server listed in the “Authorized Devices” section on the screenshot you posted?

Cool, glad it was fixed.

Hey, not sure why are you not seeing the banner but I just pinned the info as the top post in home page…

You need to access it via the actual local IP address. not a custom url. on the physical machine you can use 127.0.01:32400/web

if you have a semi complicated to the average user network then you may need to do a ssh tunnel to it

That’s just the Hostname of the server and my local lan name, same as the local IP address. All good now after running the reclaim it script. Thanks.

I understand. I’m saying it won’t work.

I am mostly said it because any one else reading this would need to know to use the actual local IP.

I think if you have previously click the X (close) on the banner. You won’t see it again (only in incognito mode).

I have this issue. A very frustrating two days. I can’t claim my server anymore. I tried re-installing, i tried adding two-factor authorization. All fruitless. I haven’t tried a third party claim - but this is really crazy. I have wasted countless hours on a problem caused by a breach and poor remediation by Plex. I am a lifetime member, who couldn’t be more frustrated.

Please tell me your Linux server setup basic?

Native? VM ?

Distro & Version ?

Local or remote ?

QNap installation.
Standard Package: PlexMediaServer-1.28.2.6106-44a5bbd28-x86_64.qpkg
I have local access to Qnap server as needed. Previously had published my server to my cloud account for remote access.
