I think everything is more messed up than they say. Finally got it back up last night, wake up, cant log in to anything, everythings borked.
Resetting the password will also sign your server out from your account. You need to re-attach it, by going to the local IP address of the Plex server device and claiming it.

(no, clicking on this link will do no good. You’ll have to replace ip-of-plex-server
with the actual IP address of your server!)
You have to use this IP address, not some domain name you may have set up.
In some extreme cases, you will have to perform this procedure: Why am I locked out of Server Settings and how do I get in? | Plex Support
Same issue. My media server couldn’t connect despite being able to access it locally. Luckily, none of the files or media was actually deleted. I was able to reset password, log out of all devices, and setup two factor authentication.
When the connection still wasn’t connecting, I tried removing the server and adding it back in. Big mistake. Now I can’t even see it or have the option to add any form of media or library to the Plex media server.
Yeah, I just did that too…now I can’t see even that my sever is offline DAM
Confirmed - reclaimed!
Ok…I tried both…still no go…
Some of the same issues going on for me today after I changed my PW, including:
Anyone have any suggestions on how to address any of the issues I’m still struggling with???
Resetting the password and forcing sign out has now removed my access to the server. Followed the instructions for the linux preference file and still tells me, the admin account of the server, that it is not authorized to access the server. Cant get the token to claim it either since my account doesnt have authorization to access the server.
My local plex server responds, but my local media libraries have disappeared (after password reset). the video files are all still there, but they no longer show up in plex. To add insult to injury, it looks like my account can no longer even see the menus to re-add my local libraries or even get to the server settings. I only see the streamed content that Plex now has. Anyone else seeing that?
FIXED…Now…RECLAIMED…
How do I find the local IP address of my Plex server?
I reset my Password and signed out of all connected devices. I am unable to re-attach my server. I went to my Plex server that is on a Synology NAS. I can access the server but of course all my videos are missing. When I attempt to change the password it will not allow me to sign out. I am unable to find the IP address of the Plex server. Any help would be appreciated.
hi how do i reclaim my server. having the same issues as everyone else i think
My server is on a Synology and connecting directly via local IP address makes no difference. I’m just redirected to app.plex.tv, told to login in, and when I do, nothing has changed. No option to claim my server. JFC, Plex. I wish I hadn’t changed my password per that email.
That depends on where this server is running.
What kind of devices is it?
If it’s something in your home network, your router can usually give you an overview over used IP addresses in the network.
If it’s running on some kind of NAS device, you should be able to see the IP of that box in its configuration menu.

THANK YOU!!! This is the only thing that worked for me. Saving those instructions for next time!!!
Same here. It keeps telling me to get the Plex server and I’ve done that a couple times already. Plex was great when it worked but when it doesn’t it’s sure a pain.
Thanks, but none of this makes any sense to me. I’m just a novice on computers. Need step-by-step instructions. My server is just on my Windows PC. And I’ve looked at the list of IP addresses on my router but I don’t see anything that says “Plex”. There’s a few named products, but mostly “Unknown” or a bunch of numbers. UPDATE: Well, after going away for a while and not really doing anything, it’s back up and running on all devices (after re-logging in). Go figure.
