Like Plexamp only connects to a music library, how to make Plex search only video libraries?

Hello reader,

Was wondering if this feature already exists and if not why not. What am I missing here, for now this is the reason I can’t use Plexamp!

So in order to search trough your music library in Plexamp, in your Plex music library settings you have to set global search to true as far as I can understand. Unfortunatly this totally clouds my search result when I search for video’s on my Plex since my music library is quite large.

So I would like not see my music search results in my plex but I do would like to be able to search in my Plexamp.

Is this really impossible (besides have 2 separate Plex installations)? And why is nobody else bothered by the fact that with a large music and video library the search results in the normal plex are dominated by music results? I really don’t understand why nobody is bothered by this?

Hopefully I am doing something wrong.

Regards,
Frank

In Plex Web, you can determine which media types the search will look for. Default is “All.” Click on the “All” and you’ll see your choices:
