You should be able to assign both the artist and the concert videos to a same-named collection (e.g. using the artist name). That way, the concerts should show as related media on the artist page.
Why? I already have an auto “collection” for each artist created by Plex. Isn’t that part of the idea of this rigid folder-structure requirement?
Manually adding collections means I have to create a separate collection for each artist that has videos and included all music - and then jump between the two? Please make this work for people that are NOT looking for a library management hobby rather than an entertainment centre.
Plex already knows about each of my artists… and each of my movie videos. Surely it can figure out connections between the two.
Rob
Plex can’t. There’s no actual link between your movies and artists (at least none that Plex knows of). If you create a same-named collection, the artist will show up on the movie’s detail page and the movie will show up on the artist page as related media (no jumping around between the two of them).
You can organize your concert videos as local extras for those artists – then they’ll automatically show up and will be linked to the artist.

If I have two tables from two databases I can create a join query that links the two - its SQL 101.
Not sure why “PLEX can’t”.
Unless I’m missing something, the contents of that link above describe a directory organization that while allowing videos to be associated with a Music Library; they are now out of your Movies collection. Have I misread?
as for treating the videos as local extras of your artist – yes, those will no longer appear in your movie library.
as for your SQL 101… I’m not aware of any conclusive database of persons in music and movies/tv. So your best shot will be linking them by name. As you can see on IMDb, there’s tons of people with the same name in all kind of roles… so going simply by a text string won’t give you a particularly good experience (unless you can live with all kind of mix-ups).
For reference… there’s e.g. 2 Taylor Swifts and 13 Phil Collins’ on IMDb.
Music metadata isn’t usually referring to IMDb (e.g. because not all artists have a person record there).
Your argument based on how many Phil Collins there are on IMDB is ridiculous - and frankly, completely disingenuous in the context of this discussion. That is not a valid use-case; so unless you are trolling for an argument I would leave that alone.
Next time, consider your posts more carefully and not simply take an opposing stance.
how so?
you made a point that it’s simple sql to lookup the person/artist in different libraries.
I made the point that I’m not aware of a central repository where that information was easily linkable (e.g. no unique identifier of music artists that’s also available/used for movies). Unless there’s such a unique reference, you’ll be left with manually linking them or doing a sql query for the artist/person based on their name – hence my reference to the multitude of Phil Collins etc.
I’m sorry if you perceive this as trolling.
It’s certainly not my intention to troll you or oppose for the sake of opposing… I just didn’t follow your argument.
So you think someone will have Phil Collins of the Star Trek Electrical Department?
Lets move on shall we? None of what you stated was helpful and in fact - after reading your comments its clear that you do not understand what I was referring to.
good luck.
