Lip Sync Issues Live and recorded.
When Watching Live TV in the Plex App installed on the NVIDIA Shield that is the Plex Medial Server the Lip Sync is off. The HDMI goes to the TV, there is a digital fiber optic cable out of the TV to a home auto receiver. All other files and apps are in sync. I watched a TV show through Plex that was not recorded through the Off air receiver and it played fine. When I watch Youtube TV through the NVIDIA Shield there is no lip sync issues.

What do you recommend to fix this.

Same issues for me with similar set up. Recordings are on a Synology NAS.

If I watch the same show on my Mac I have no sync issues? Seems to be just via the HDMI to the TV? No problems with DVD rips etc

Chiming in here with the same sorts of issues, as it’s driving me up the wall.

nVidia Shield (2017)
2.5" Seagate USB3 external HDD (powered via Shield)
HDHomeRun Duo (HDHR5-2DT)
PMS running on internal Shield storage, with libraries on external storage (Samsung HDD)

All software and firmware updated to latest versions.

Live TV and DVR recordings on Plex result in audio sync issues after a few minutes of watching. A temporary workaround is to rewind the video 10-15 seconds or so and resume playback, but it’s incredibly frustrating to have to keep doing this throughout an entire TV show, game or movie.

The HDHomeRun app has no issues with live TV or DVR, however the interface and DVR function compared with Plex quite literally sucks.

I’m currently evaluating both Plex Pass and HDHomeRun DVR and would love to be able to go with Plex Pass over HDHR DVR, however the audio sync issue is making the whole thing unusable.

Does anybody have any suggestions on how to resolve this?

I’m cancelling my Plex Pass until a fix is available. Pretty crap considering this is a paid service.

I previously cancelled Plex Pass for the same reason. When the latest Windows 10 update killed Windows Media Center, I signed up for a one year pass with the, clearly unrealistic, expectation that this issue would have been fixed.
Watching recorded TV on the LG Plex app sometimes starts audio free - in this case need to fast forward to get audio. But then audio eventually goes out of sync!
This seems like a major show stopper to have been unresolved for such a long time.

Just bought a tuner and antenna to use with Plex and the audio sync makes it unusable. I must be missing something. Is it really this bad?

I am seeing the same, hdhomerun, plex, shield. Live tv audio goes out of sync. If I watch tv with the hdhomerun app on the shield video quality is much better and sound does not go out of sync. Unfortunately I brought the lifetime plex so I can not cancel it. Can anyone from plex comment on when this will be fixed as the livetv streaming advertised in plex has not lived up to reality and I should be entitled to a refund.

I asked plex and they did not answer but cancelled my lifetime subscription.

I am having similar issues having bought a Synology NAS and streaming to a Panasonic TV. All the DVDs I have burned show the same lip sync issue. As a newbie to this forum does Plex ever reply and try to help us because I notice this has been open since January?

When you say they cancelled your lifetime subscription, did they give you a refund?

I bought a lifetime Plex pass to use the DVR function, but I’ve found it too unreliable, particularly in terms of recordings that are truncated early. I switched to Emby (and bought a lifetime subscription to that). It’s not perfect, but it’s 90% reliable vs. 10% for Plex.
