Listening to genre music isn't working

Over Christmas I tried to pull up only Christmas music on our Plex server. I opened up Music, which is in the new format if that still matters, selected a new filter of Genre and picked Christmas. While listening to the music by Michael Buble songs came up that were not Christmas. I have screenshots but can not seem to get the upload to work on this forum.

I checked the tags on Michael Buble from the Artist edit and Christmas is listed along with Swing which is the music I was hearing. I then drilled down into one of the albums from the list of genres is was supposed to be playing and there is nothing on the songs on the album that lets me pick the genre of a song, the tag option seems to be for moods only. Indecently all my music was tagged correctly in the MP3 ID3 before it was uploaded.

So it appears if one artist has a Christmas album then all his music is considered in that genre instead of just tracks that really are. That seems like a flaw to me, not every song from one album or artist is the same genre.

Plex only makes genre filters available at the Artist or Album level. There is a pretty popular feature request (http://forums.plex.tv/discussion/160854/music-tracks-need-genre) to get them at the Track level as well. If you haven’t already, please add your vote by clicking ‘Like’ on the first post in that thread.

If you switch to Album mode rather than Artist, you should still be able to pick the Genre filter, and picking “Christmas” should give you just Christmas music.

Mood tags are auto-populated from Gracenote, which I have found to be so full of errors like this that I consider it unusable. Unfortunately, all Plex can do is find a different source, but Gracenote was supposed to be an improvement over Last.FM, which is just as bad, so my confidence is not high.

Thanks for the help and the link. I have liked the first post and will try your suggestion.
