Server Version#: Latest Plex Docker Image
Player Version#: Latest FireTV App
Tuner Make/Model: Svbsky S960 V2 USB
Hello,
i just got a USB Sat adapter connected to my homeserver to stream satellite TV to my firetv stick. It shows as S960, finds channels, loads guide data, all good.
On my Android phone, every channel plays fine. But on my FireTV stick, some channels play and others dont. From first testing, all the “free public” HD channels that are available in Germany worked on the FireTV but all the “free private” SD stations did not (but works in the Android app). It just says cannot play. Then I activated transcoding for video for my server, now it gives me a different message, saying that the server is not powerful enough to convert the video. I am a bit confused as I never had anything that needed video transcoding for the FireTV stick or the app, I thought those came with all the codecs (other than the Web Player obviously).
So now I am wondering, why the HD channels work fine and low res / lower bandwidth needs to be transcoded and why that does not work / is not starting. Also I am not sure that is really the problem. When I start watching a HD channel on the Web Player, it starts to transcode and it works (also laggy but thats server performance). For the SD content it says “source not available”, so no transcoding startin…
Any input is appreciated!
