If I tune to a channel for which the tuner card is having reception problems, I can no longer tune to any other channel that’s mapped on that tuner, and get the error: Playback Error: Could not tune channel. Please check your tuner or antenna.
Very reproducible.
I then have to exit the Plex server and restart it in order to tune with that card again.
The particular tuner I’m using is an HD Homerun Dual.
Any fixes on the problem, or others with the same issue?
Same issue with the same tuner. Ordered off Amazon as it went on sale, but maybe that wasn’t the best idea!
Very disappointing as I was able to view channels when accessing the stream via the Homerun webpage directly (my.hdhomerun.com). But it won’t work with Plex.
I was able to scan for channels (after restarting a few times), but it doesn’t ever let me play.
Getting the same error: Playback Error: Could not tune channel. Please check your tuner or antenna.
I get the error through both the plex server web page and the plex media player program. I have been using Plex for probably over a year now with this same HomeRun setup, and this is a new issue. In the past, if we went to live TV, it would show that error or similar for a second or two then show the channel, but now it sticks on the error and never shows the channel.
I have two dual HomeRun tuners (4 total tuners), both hooked to the same over the air antenna. I can go through the HomeRun program and tune the same channel just fine with great reception (on the same computer), so it’s not a problem with my HomeRun or the network or the antenna.
I’m running Windows 7 on that computer. I have tried several channels and the issue happens on all of them. I have re-started the PC and exited the Plex server multiple times with no success.
At this point, Plex is basically useless to me unless this issue can be resolved. Please fix this issue or let me know some other troubleshooting options.
Same tuner (HDHR Dual) and same issue here. Can’t watch any live TV channels, I always get the “Could not tune to channel” error. Using the HDHomerun application on my computer does work though, so i know it can tune. How do you know that certain channels are having reception problems? Is there a way to test for that? I’m not using an antenna, I have a cable line running to it. This setup worked fine for quite some time, it only broke recently, and I have not changed anything in my house setup (no extra splitters, or devices hooked up to cable lines at all).
I am having the same problem now. Plex Live and DVR has been working very solid for me with HDHomerun Connect and Dual configured with OTA Digital Antenna, setup on my Synology 418Play. We were gone for weeks over Christmas and just started looking at DVR’d shows and realized blank (recorded but blank) when I go to live TV. I get the same error you are all getting " Playback Error: Could not tune channel. Please check your tuner or antenna. I have resetup both tuners, and DVR several times. It sees all the stations properly just wont view Live or DVR them successfully anymore.
PMS SYnology version Version 1.14.1.5488
All my signals are strong. This exact config has been solid for couple of years now. I am not sure if it is the latest version but likely since I did the update right before leaving in December. Don’t know what else to try. The Live fails on Firestick HD, on my best computer, on tablet…everywhere. The EPG shows the shows, shows the scrawling time line, etc. Just wont show or record the actual broadcast. Same with every channel.
Updated: for what its worth, I can see all of the channels live in the HDHomerun Win10 App, so I know the signals are making it to the tuners and viewable, but not through Plex.
I am also having the same problem with the same tuner. The tuner works everywhere else except in plex. I am not sure when the last update was, but it has been working fine for years.
is there another contact avenue anybody knows of? Since Plex is my go too for my DVR and now useless for liveTV. I might as just switch to HDhomerun service or look around more (since I already have the HDR connects) Too reiterate, it all worked fine until Dec, the OTA Antenna is working fine, I can get signals to TV’s with built in tuners, my HD Homerun app sees all the OTA channels in their APP, Plex sees the tuners, and configures them with EPG working. Yet, fails to show any channel when I click on it. So it is either a Synology issue or a Plex issue. The only Synology update recently has been their security patch. Plex team…need somebody help here or I have no reason to stay, I don’t want to go…
Odd update. Launching Plex app (browser edge) plays the tv station sound, but no live tv video. At least that is a step in the right direction, though I haven’t changed anything so not sure what changed. On Edge no video at all, on Firefox, stutter video and grainy. However, a big improvement even though livetv seems broken It appears it actually DID record some shows. Odd…but it did.
Has anyone with an older tuner (like my HDHomerun Dual) having this problem tried replacing the tuner with a newer tuner? I’ve seen this error reported for other tuners as well and for various Plex Server platforms, so I’m afraid to invest in another tuner for fear that it won’t resolve this issue. It’s disappointing that there isn’t at least some acknowledgment from Plex that this problem exists.
Just started having this issue with my PMS as well. Started just Monday morning. Thought is was becuase of the weather, but playing directly from the HDHR to my PC works fine.
