I have a Motorola Nexus 6 Android version 7.0, Plex client 6.3.2.1332, and PMS version 1.8.0.4109. I am able to say I am able to watch live TV. I will check other devices in a while.

Plex,I would like to start by saying THANK YOU for finally getting into the LiveTV space for the Apple TV! We have 4 AppleTV’s floating around the house, and have been forced to rely on Channels up until now.
Having said that, I do have some concerns/questions:
1.) I upgraded last night to the latest version t enable the LiveTV. I was able to connect my HD Homerun Prime w/ CableCARD without any issue, select the channels I wanted to make available in the guide, and get LIVE TV working. But, it doesn’t appear as though there is a traditional “guide,” only a running list of thumbnail pictures of what is currently showing on the channel. This makes it hard to scroll, filter, and scrub ahead to schedule recordings for future times. Am I missing something obvious?
2.) Curious if there is not an easy way to tell Plex where to store the DVR recordings. From everything i’ve been able to find online, it appears as though it stores, temporarily, the recordings in the same library folder you set for TV Shows, converts (post record), then saves the files there. Is there not an option to set a DVR recording target, then enable Plex to move the converted files to the actual library location for TV Shows? For example, if I wanted to enable DVR recordings to land on an SSD for quick access, and much faster conversion times, then move them to a Drobo for example for long term storage?
Hope to get an answer today if possible.
Excited for this new capability.
Thanks,
Matt
Item 1 has been asked many times on the forum and answered. Many would like a traditional grid but there is a patent concern that Rovi/Tivo hold regarding what people refer to as a traditional grid view. A Plex Employee has already stated that basically they are not looking at the traditional grid due to these patents and costs associated with the patent to use a grid view. If you search the forum you will find plenty of threads for the traditional grid.
Item 2. Yes there is a way when setting up recordings to specify where to record to. I use an old SSD for recording/post processing my show. The first thing you need is to specify the SSD you are wanting to record to as a storage location in the library you will be recording to:

Once that is done you will see a Location when setting up recordings, use the dropdown and select the SSD drive for saving recordings.

This does not change the location where Plex is storing the actual files Plex is using to record the show. When Live TV was introduced Plex started creating hundreds of small files for what we assume is supporting time shifting in Live TV. These small files are recorded into a Transcode folder in your Plex Media Server application data folder. When the recording is complete Plex converts these single one second files into a complete recording and places it in the grab folder in the location you specified for recording. This Plex application data location can be set to a different location in server settings I am just not sure you would want all of the application data on the SSD, no way to specify to use the SSD for transcode which would be better in my opinion. My SSD is a 120GB drive which was my original system drive that was replaced by a larger SSD, needed something to do with this original drive so decided to use it for storing recordings until post processing moves the file to one of my other drives in the library.
Works for me on iPad (ios) but doesn’t work on Android (spinning circle). Definitely needs some more work. Using all the latest builds and an intel i7.

If your android device predates 6.3 then you currently have to utilize an external player to stream live tv:
https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/281756/support-for-plex-live-streams-coming-for-android-os-that-predate-6-3#latest
Is there a development roadmap for other players such as Xbox 360, Xbox one etc?
Works great on shield and iOS
I have just tried v1.8x server and it still has the same bug as every version since v1.6 for me. Recordings never finish or transfer to the Recorded TV library, even though they say they are 100% complete. I have to restart Plex Server, then the recording shows in the library but is either corrupt or only a minute or so long. Back to v1.6. sighhh…
Also having the Recording 100% stuck issue with 1.8x server. Has Plex even acknowledged this issue so we know there’s some traction on it?
We have a tvbutler 100tc (compatible with live tv). Live tv found tvbutler, but when I wanted to look for channels I saw there wasn’t Hungary in location. It’s just a temporary problem or permanent?
Out of beta? No sharing LiveTV with other users, poor client support, etc… Hell, it’s hardly out of alpha.
When will LiveTV support come for the Roku?

I moved my Plex Data folder to a larger external drive because my main Windows drive was getting full. I noticed how the Plex data folder can swell up if you have thumbnails enabled. The data folder contains a cache folder which caches the shows being recorded in real time. This is where the video stream initially lands before being moved to the .grab folder in the library of your choice. So this would be an option if you wanted to move the Plex cache folder to an SSD for faster transcoding and it will be automatically moved to your final destination outside the SSD.
