Running into an interesting problem with my LiveTV with Managed Users. The primary (server owner) user can see the LiveTV and DVR options regardless of which player being used. A few months ago, however, my home users lost the ability to see those options. I’ve tried turning it off and then back on, but I I cannot get them to appear for my home users. If I create a new home user, the account can see the LiveTV and DVR options. Not sure where to take the troubleshooting from here. TIA.
Just ran into that yesterday too. (6/27/2022). I can only guess it’s a security for “user” issue Vs read/write as needed for recording to the DVR space.
Would sure like a resolution for how we use it with different people’s interests.
You could download the logs (Plex Media Server Logs | Plex Support) and look in the Plex Media Server.log to see if the database is corrupted, if so repair.
Failing that you could remove/re-add the managed user but that would remove all watched statuses.
Thanks for the suggestion. I checked the logs, and no indications of corruption. Went ahead and checked integrity on one of the recent backups, and nothing popped up. I did test setting up a new user to see if that would address the issue, but would like to get to the bottom of this so my partner doesn’t lose all their watch history (again).
Backups are only successful if their is no database corruption so a PRAGMA check; should be 100% clean. As long as you see a new backup every 3 days nothing to be worried about.
Exporting and importing the watch history can be challenging and still affects continue watching. Since they merged Live TV with Live TV & DVR have you cleared and setup the favorites. I have all the Plex supplied channels turned off so I didn’t experience the troubles that others have.
Yeah, I have the regular backups appearing. I have turned off the online content and reset the favorites. Maybe I’ll spend some time this weekend figuring out how watch history is stored and write a script to sync that over when I have to do this in future.
Yeah, I’ve even flipped it off and back on again to see if that would resolve it, but no. The user previously had access to live TV; when they mentioned it was missing, I confirmed the setting was still set correctly.
