Live TV - Bug list & feature requests for New Experience

I’m seeing something quite similar, never bothered to check to be honest. Live TV “transcode” consumes about 13% of my CPU (MacStudio), for something that shouldn’t be required. Let’s hope the decision to force encoding to help stabilise the Mobile app can be reviewed in the future.

Same here. No Recording button in future EPG entries.

I’m running android-mobile player 2025.27.0

I totally second this.

The Live TV preview in the EPG removes 73% of the potential of the TV Guide. When in un-folded mode on my Galaxy Fold 7, I get a huge Live TV preview (mostly a black box) and only 3 lines of TV guide!

Please just remove the Live TV preview, and let the EPG guide be able to get to its full potential!

just tried PIP with live TV - HD home run, looks like the feature has been removed, going back to 8.45 again

I was away from the house yesterday with only my android phone, and decided that I wanted to set a Live TV recording for a football game later that day. I couldn’t get the recording created with the “new improved” Plex app on android, and if I had I wouldn’t have been able to add extra time. Trying to navigate the Plex web app on a phone is a terrible experience, so I punted.

Thank goodness I keep Jellyfin running in parallel. I was able to set the recording with the Jellyfin android client AND add extra time to the recording with no issues.

It was embarrassing trying to justify to my wife why we still use Plex. Complete Plex fail on very basic functionality.

Before I saw this thread, I posted this: Live TV on Android Mobile Issues when watching the same channel on two devices - Live TV & DVR - Plex Forum

Short of it: If I am watching a TV Channel on any device in my house. And I also want to, or switch to an Android Mobile device watching that same channel. Android Mobile will start that channel from where I originally started watching it.

Like this morning, I started watching the Pat’s/Buc’s game on CBS in my local. And I needed to do some dishes in the kitchen and went to put it on our Pixel tablet. And it started from kick off when I had been watching for at least 20 minutes.

Trying to fast forward or jump to the end of what was recorded doesn’t work. pressing jump forward 30 seconds only goes till about what’s been cached on the device. There is no option to jump to live like there used to be. And when trying to tune into a station that has an already in progress recording or being watched there is no option to watch live or from beginning.

Even better, I’ve stopped playing a channel, checked status on my server saw no one else was watching said channel. drove to the store and tried to pick up that channel from live and it still started from the time I originally started watching.

This current functionality makes watching live sports from a mobile device useless.

2025.30 Beta has two key improvements, displays currently playing channel details and more importantly the TV guide is more reliable and supports long press to bring up a reliable record button for future shows.

So far this seems like we have mostly returned to the baseline functionality pre new experience, with the exception of some odd UX choices.

Without question I’ve been critical, however have always tried to provide good feedback to the Plex team, so in that spirit today I celebrate the teams achievements. Let’s hope that PIP and “direct play” without transcode can be added again soon.
