Dear plex Team,
I am beating myself repeatedly for throwing money down the drain on the discounted lifetime license because the ONE feature I payed for is now broken beyond repair. It is impossible to scan for channels. It is impossible to remove the broken configuration. The problem has been posted by several people but seems to not get recognized or followed up at all for quite some time.
To summarize what is happening:
Set up DVR, finds the fritz.box, asks for postcode, does a channel scan.
Scan fails by either finding Zero or up to 7 channels out of several hundreds
Once you choose an EPG for that you are stuck - there is no way of ever rescanning channels because the buttons do not react.
It is impossible to start new because “deleting” the DVR does nothing. Once you want to setup the DVR again you are immediatley getting the fritz.box with seven channels again. Even after Reboots.
I tried full reinstalls with manual deletion of ALL files (then I get a one time channel scan again, with 0 to 7 channels found). I tried running Plex in English and in German.
Something is fundamentally broken in the channel setup. At least for several versions.
And after a first channel scan you are stuck here: Pressing the “Scan channels” button, no matter what guide I select, ends with a short “loading circle” and then the very same screen a second later. Endless loop, only “back” works.
Can confirm the “rescan channels” link does nothing. You delete the DVR and the next time you add it the wizard skips the channel scan and uses the previous/deleted entries.
There i a simple manual fix that I think the link is supposed to do:
I didnt find better way than delete it from sql database. Delete all dvr from plex than remove from db
DELETE FROM media_provider_resources
than install new dvr in plex
Also, my scan gets to 97% then hangs. You can kill off the scan but I still don’t know if I’m terminating the process before it carries out more operations.
