Server Version#: 1.23.2.4656 , Windows 10
Player Version#: N/A
Tuner Make/Model: Hauppauge WinTV-dualHD
Guide/Lineup name: “Local Broadcast Listings” / Freeview (UK)
Using XMLTV?: No
Channel number/Name: N/A
My DVR was working great, prior to the new UI for DVRs. Able to receive all 155 UK Freeview channels.
I went back to the UI to add a new channel but was forced to rescan. Now I only see 95 channels. The likes of BBC1, ITV etc are all missing. When I setup the DVR previously, there were a bunch of channels without a channel number - I was still able to add them and watch TV. Now all these “numberless” channels are missing.
I can’t find a way to get the tuner to do a full rescan. The 95 channels seems to be fixed even if I remove the DVR and start again. Clicking rescan in channel matching does nothing.
I have the same… server version 1.23.2.4656 and the rescan button on the channel matching screen does nothing.
The new Live TV & DVR settings menu looks prettier but doesn’t seem to improve things. Lots of different screens with settings in but not obvious where to go for what.
Im not going to press anything else for fear of losing channels so will wait for a fix to this!
@chrishoage Is this a known fix that on Plex Web the rescan button doesn’t do anything so adding new channels and rescanning current channels is currently impossible.
We released some fixes to https://app.plex.tv/desktop yesterday (Version 4.59.2). Could you please try to see if you have trouble using the hosted app?
@chrishoage thanks for the reply. I’m using the latest version of Plex Web and the issue is still there and the release notes don’t mention a fix for channel scan. Just a “New” which I guess doesn’t relate to this as has always been there.
Clicking on Rescan just loads the same page again without doing a scan.
Can you please clarify the specific button that doesn’t work? I’ve tried this rescan button here and it is functioning for me. Perhaps there is a different button that I’ve missed that is not?
@chrishoage Yeah that’s the screen and as you can see, clicking does nothing. What is the intended outcome when clicking that button? This hasn’t worked since the redesign.
The button for scanning channels is working now, BUT: The problem remains that the UI only shows a fraction of the channels that are actually found. In my case 294 channels are actually found, but only 4 are displayed in the UI afterwards. There are at least around 100 free, unencrypted channels that are to be displayed in the UI. (See Thread)

Glad to hear the button is working. I’m unsure about the channels not reporting what should be available. I’ve forwarded this thread to the Live TV & DVR team to see if they have any ideas.
Yes, I am unable to reproduce as the button functions for me. I’ve forwarded this thread to the Live TV & DVR team so I’m hoping they might have some ideas.
I have a similar problem here.
First time setup with unsupported country and outdated transponder data by default.
Running on Debian 11 with a Hauppauge WinTV DualHD, using patched kernel from Ubuntu PPA.
With w_scan i can generate the new frequency table, it found 100+ channel, so the OS side is good.
When i setup the DVR, the logs show this:
Jun 17, 2021 20:22:00.643 [0x7f6bc1eb3b38] INFO - [I] channel_scanner_t::scan_channels. Scanned 13 transponder out of 13. Channels found 101
But only 1 channel is in my list
And another thing:
on the local webUI, the rescan button does nothing (Version: 1.23.3.4706), only works on the app.plex.com webapp.
I’ve had the same thing but just found it does work but it’s a UI bug…
When you press the rescan button a message appears at the bottom of the floating dialogue asking you to confirm the frequency range. The dialogue should expand to show this but you have to scroll down to see this option.
Maybe this renders differently in different browsers? Although I’ve tried a few (mobile and desktop) and it’s the same.
Hey dear community, it took me about 10 hours of trial and error and searching a lot for this topic unitl I found this thread.
I got the exact same issue.
Only 8 programms found out of 506 and no way to do a research over my gui.
Over app.plex.tv it’s also not possible since there seems to be just an another visual bug (screenshot)
After going back to 1.22.3.4523-1-01 I was able to do a scan over my usual gui in the internal network without the app.plex.tv and also where able to find all my 506 (before 8!) tv stations over dvb-c on a FritzBox 6591 Cable (german Vodafone DOCSIS 3.1). The EPG “Horizon TV” then worked like a charm for the Vodafone/Unitymedia Network with perfect channel mapping.
I can’t believe it but after all the pain and tears, I am able to watch and record 110 tv stations.
Without plex I’d continued my years of tv abstinence
Please fix this soon so I wan’t miss out any future features and fixes because im still at 1.22.3.4523-1-01
Can confirm that this still exists in PMS 1.24.5.5173 (using a Hauppauge Wintv-DualHD, Germany, DVB-C, Vodafone) and I agree with zeppel that this is hella annoying.
A response from the support staff letting us know if the issue is being worked on would be lovely.
There is another open thread on the exact same topic that has been neglected: Missing Channels during scan
