I have an Ubuntu PMS box that has Live TV & DVR with Xteve. I’ve been having this error where once a day the Live TV session will end and if I try to start a new live tv session, it says “Playback Error - Could not tune channel”.
On the Live Tv & DVR settings, it still thinks it’s recording the live tv sessions. They are stuck and every time I try to watch a new channel, it adds another tuner, even though it never actually plays. The only fix is to reboot the plex server completely.
Nothing shows in the Plex logs regarding the error. If I reboot xteve, it doesn’t resolve the issue and the tuners stay connected.
Is there any fix for this that doesn’t require me to reboot the pms?
I’m seeing this with a HDHomeRun extend tuner also. Restarting the HDHomeRun doesn’t clear the issue, but restarting the PMS does fix the issue. PMS is running on Ubuntu 16.04. I record several shows every day (10-20) and after a day or two, this error starts showing up for many of the recordings. If PMS isn’t rebooted and the error goes for several days, almost no shows will end up being recorded at all. Something’s getting stuck somewhere with regards to streaming the data from the tuner into PMS.
I can attach the logs on my most recent crash. I had just reinstalled a fresh install of Plex and after 48 hours, it crashed PMS causing me to restart the service.
