Initially using the Hauppauge Quad internal tuner
In case the software that was showing “up to date” wasn’t correct I went to the download page and reinstalled the Plex server software but I still have the same problem.
I noticed this in then last few days and can’t view any channels whether I use the browser on the server machine which is windows 7, browser on my win 10 desktop or my android phone. The guide shows fine.
It also plays fine using the WinTV v 8.5 program on the desktop.
I removed the Quad tuner card and reinstalled the USB dual tuner and after adding it back in displays channels fine but will not tune to a channel I just get the “Playback error” could not tune channel. Again, plays fine with the WinTV app but will not play in Plex.
I hadn’t made any changes to Plex in months and it stopped working.
I even changed the transcoding drive in case the ssd I was using was having issues and that didn’t help.
Where do I go from here?

Basically try this but do the added task of restarting after tuners are removed, rescanning then another restart.
It seems it stays mucked up without a bunch of restarts between everything but it works. When I moved the machine to win 10 it’s another batch of problems but there you have to load drivers from the Hauppage website for windows 10.

When I was swapping the tuners it evidently found the old settings and re-scanning only didn’t do it. I had removed the Quad tuner and tried the dual with the same results, nothing working.
When I reinstalled the Quad I deleted the tuners completely then did a re-scan so it wouldn’t try to reuse any old setting and Boom! it works again!
I was getting blind to the simple tasks and both deleting AND a new re-scan solved it.
