Issue still occurs for me with live tv stream still. appears only on android TV apps it seems - also note EPG appears to be out of sync with server all the time despite other clients seeing EPG fine and accurately.
Other apps including IOS on beta appear to be fine with live TV streaming from network TV tuner and web browser all appears fine. Issues appears specific to android TV version from what I can test.
Testing on latest beta as per your comment. get this error within minutes of starting live tv stream on android tv
did new beta version work for you? ill grab logs and upload soon. happens when i open live tv stream on Android TV plex client (I have 4 - 2 of them are nvidia shields and the other two are android tv smart tvs).
Can you please provide your PMS logs after this error occurs? Please ensure that you have Debug logging enabled on your server first. Thanks for reporting back.
To be clear, during my testing I was starting playback on the same Shield that was running PMS with the client version 10.28.0.3441. I also tested on pretty much every other client as well, along with watching on multiple clients at once (2-3 streaming as once).
This issue is specific to PMS running on the Nvidia Shield with a Live TV tuner. The failure would impact any client playing from this server. If you’re having an issue with Live TV on the Android TV client, can you please create a separate thread (if you haven’t already) and include your PMS logs. Feel free to tag me for visibility.
Ill grab my logs ASAP for you but, I do notice something very interesting when it comes to live TV. I can run Live TV on my web browser and via the IOS app fine however, I notice that it is transcoding. Whereas, when I run on android TV it runs DIRECT instead of transcoding and this crashes after a short period of time.
Is Android TV app supposed to be transcoding like the other applications are that are interfacing with plex? Not an expert, but noticed this was something unusual. Tried adjusting my settings in all manner of ways to force Android TV to transcode, but it does not appear possible.
Thanks for the logs and the extra details. As for the Direct Stream, please check out this support article. Direct Stream is different than Direct Play and Transcoding. I’ll have to see if I can reproduce. Thanks again for reporting!!
My issue is different. It appears that my 2019 Shield Pro TV is not used as a server (I have my NAS as server). I have had no other issues with Android TV client other than Live TV stream issues where it crashes within minutes of opening a stream. Also notice that EPG is not working properly in general (which appears to be a problem with the server application - I am using latest BETA). Generally speaking, Live TV and EPG appears to be a real problem for all clients including IOS (even though actual viewing of livestream appears fine and seems to transcode fine).
As mentioned, it appears no transcoding happens on the Android TV client (which I am not sure if this is the difference). When I use jellyfin client on android TV, streaming and EPG works fine from my TV tuner.
EPG appears to be a server side problem and Android TV app crashing out on live TV appears to be an app side problem. Anyone had that same problem?
@zanetheman3 is PMS or the Plex app on your Shield crashing? Could you also include your Shield logs? Also can you provide some more detail on the EPG issues you’re seeing?
@zanetheman3 are you still observing this issue? Could you provide some details about reproducing this issue? You start a Live TV session on the Shield and after some time your PMS just crashes or there is an error message on the Shield?
Yes, the error still persists and is specific to Android TV - I have a 6 Android TV’s in my home and a mixture of devices all running Android TV OS and they all have the same symptoms (Other OS such as Apple TV and IOS seems to stream fine). Stream will run for a for up to 15 minutes fine and then suddenly crashes with this error (see attached) - from the same sources on Jellyfin and other clients, no such issue. Other than already attached logs here, nothing obvious sticks out in logs.
