Been using PMS for years and just recently decided to purchase a HD HomeRun Connect Quatro. Once if not twice a day I have to reboot the server so it will stream the channels. The message I receive is “Playback Error: Unable to tune channel (Timed out)”. Keep in mind that I can load up the tuner from my pc or phone and the channels are just fine.
I’ve seen other people have had issues with this, but haven’t seen any update. Anybody know what’s up with this or when it will be resolved?
On similar threads there are posts by users who have stopped using the web client to tune live tv and have stopped receiving that message. I have also stopped using the web client to tune live tv and have not had subsequent problems with live tv on the android and roku clients. That’s just anectodotal, and I don’t watch live tv often so I may just be on a lucky streak. I also keep my daily cron job that restarts the plexmediaserver service.

I can confirm I’m one of those that pretty much stopped using the Web to tune tv and once I did, the problems went away… or at least have decreased quite a bit. I read somewhere it could be with Chrome. So when I do use web, I now use Firefox.
Curious to know if others who have the problem and use web, were you using Chrome?

Sorry to throw a wrench in your idea, but I’m one of the people who have had this problem and I’ve never used Chrome to access the web GUI. Always Firefox and Edge. What I have noticed is if I never use the web player to view live TV, the problem is practically gone. I’ve posted logs for this issue in another thread.

Thanks!
Same issue here with the latest PMS on a Nvidia - had to physically reboot the box to get it to work again - completely agree - not reliable.
Starting to regret my lifetime Pass purchase. If you look sideways at Plex, you end up not being able to tune channels on the HDHomeRun. Then reboot server. Again. And apologize to my wife why our “cord cutting solution” is a pretty lame “solution”.
Forget the grid. Forget all the other addons and shiny buttons.
Same issue with HDHR-Connect and the latest beta 1.11.0.4666.
Anytime I stream LiveTV via the web client I get maybe 10-15 minutes then I notice in the HDHR logs that it stops trying to reach the device and just throws “Could not tune channel (Timed Out)”
The only way to fix it is to reboot plex media server. Is anyone at plex even reading this?
I’ve participated in multiple of these threads. Provided logs. Repro steps. What I can to help fix this. It’s been well over a month. I nearly missed watching the new years broadcast because of having to mess with server reboots (made it with 30 seconds to spare!). How can we get this fixed?!
I have this issue too. I got tired of waiting for Live TV on PMP (RPI) so I got an ATV4. I noticed straight away it DOES play Live TV much better than browsers, so I’m happy with that - but:
1- it get’s twisted up when the ATV times out (i.e. when you go away for a while and ATV is left running on live TV). Then it seems to be playing a tv show from many hours before when it comes back online (I assume from when it went to sleep) and it comes back out of sync.
2 If I access from e.g. iOS it works but next time it’s broken on ATV. THEN I HAVE to reboot server to get it working again. Program guide won’t update (stuck on 0%) etc.
The quality is amazing though, much better than the same TV’s own tuner - must be doing some extra processing or something (de-interlacing?) we run 1080i in NZ.
