If I pause a live program and then try to fast forward back to live, the Plex player will pick literally a random spot in the recording session and jump to that time. This is usually sometime well before the current moment and the time I paused the program. No matter how much I try, I can never get to the live spot by seeking.
If I started watching a previous program on the same channel and then a new program starts, trying to fast forward will get me a spot in the previous program, and there’s no way of getting back to the live program. That’s what I mean when I said before a “recording session”.
This happens on every channel I watch and pause. The only way to fix the issue is to tune to a different channel, start a different stream, and then return to the original channel, creating a new stream.
I’ve also noticed that the status bar on the bottom of the screen (the one that shows the time and the progress of the program) never moves at all, so it makes one think that the program is paused but it’s actually playing. I’m watching something now (at 7:35 PM) and the status of the program shows it’s at (7:32:57).
This is immensely irritating, and has been broken for a long time now. I’ve only noticed this on my Apple TV so far, but I may recall this happening on my iPad too. I replaced all of my cable boxes in my house with a Plex lifetime pass, but I’m starting to regret that and maybe I should just pay Comcast for two cable boxes and a DVR. At least they work when they need to…
