Live TV keeps stopping

Well my issue wasn’t ever with a client other than my Edge browser. Which works fine now, of course. Frustrating that it wasn’t working this morning. I swear, I had to restart it every 3 minutes. I just ended up using my HDHomeRun Windows 11 app and was working fine there.

…and of course, now that I look for logs, the Edge browser seems to be working fine again. And I look like a crazy person.

No updates to the container, all humming along since I started this thread.

It’s unwatchable for me on Edge or Brave and the Plex app it streams longer but still crashes right in the middle of an important scene or part. Now I’ll just have to use Kodi or the HDHomerun app. Frustrating.

Yikes. Jellyfin or Emby maybe works better for you then?

If you follow the link I shared just above, you can get the client logs. Post them here, hopefully that helps the devs look into it.

I think I’ll do that today thank you. I have a lifetime membership on Plex and would hate to have to switch to another service like Emby when this should work. I’ll give it go. Again thank you.

Can’t test right now but wonder if it is related to the Use alternate streaming protocol for video playback in the Player Debug settings since that affects Chromium browsers.

OK in about 10 minutes it has occurred about three times already. I’ll post the logs shortly.

Guys, I had this too, rolled back to build 5081, and it isn’t doing this now.

I just gave that a try and it didn’t correct the issue.

Been happening to me too on Edge. Happens every could minutes. Been happening on at least the last 2 to 3 versions of PMS.

I’d refer to the above link I shared. Send up the client logs so the devs can see it. Without the logs, they can’t help:

Edge is still working fine for me now. I wish it wasn’t, so I didn’t appear to be some random nutjob reporting nonsense. But since it seems to be fine now (for me) I can’t share any client logs. Fingers crossed it keeps working for me, but if it happens again I’ll also share my client logs.

I’m running another session now - if it fails I’ll update with my logs.

Whelp it just happened again in Edge. Logs are here:

web_client_logs.txt (352.8 KB)

It also just happened in Firefox - logs are here:

firefox_web_client_logs.txt (256.3 KB)

Here are the Server logs - again, I don’t see anything sticking out on the server side:

plex_media_server.log (3.1 MB)

Hope this helps…

It’s virtually unusable for Live TV at least in my case. It occurs every three to four minutes. It’s happening now on the plex app also. I hope someone at Plex is paying attention as this is needs to be corrected ASAP.

There is no way to email support which is ridiculous so I sent an email to Subscription and Billing for what it’s worth. This is unacceptable that this goes on without even an acknowledgement of the problem.

It works fine on my Roku. It’s only when using the Plex web app in Edge (and apparently Firefox). Hopefully the logs help their dev/ops team.

I share the frustration with a lack of communication from Plex. I’ve been a lifetime member for I think just about 10 years now. I understand that this is a complex setup, but better communication with dedicated customers would go a long way.

I used to run Mediatomb off of FreeNAS before I flipped over to Plex off of a Fedora VM and it just silently worked, not really any issues. This was before live TV streaming from my antenna was a thing, though. But at the end of the day, it’s just encoding / decoding a data stream, the same way as streaming a TV show or Movie, yea?

Wish the Plex support folks would be a bit more responsive, for sure. I’m wondering if ffmpeg is just screwing up under the hood. I could dig into it a bit more if I can find the time.

I’ve been a lifetime member for around the same time also. Could possibly be ffmpeg too. I might just go get another Roku Stick and plug into my monitor in the office where I use the plex web .

I tried this also and it didn’t work plus it killed the audio with the Use alternative streaming protocol for video playback checked off.

Here are my logs Plex Media Server Logs_2021-11-07_16-12-33.zip (7.8 MB) Just happened again in Brave Browser with Live TV CBS OTA (3 min almost to the second) Playback Error
Go right to JellyFin Live TV same OTA and Tuner no issue 5+ minutes :anguished:

Here is the latest thing I have been seeing now with the Plex App for Windows. It appears to be streaming longer and not stopping as often but I noticed now videos on my PC won’t play such as youtube videos or twitter embedded videos. I don’t have to restart the PC just turn off the Plex App and the videos begins to play normally. This doesn’t happen when watching live TV on on HDHomerun app or off of Kodi. Clearing browsing data and cookies appears to have corrected it temporarily but if the plex app is turned off and restarted it occurs again..

Has anyone determine the cause or derived a solution to this issue?
