Server Version#: 1.20.1.3252
Player Version#: 1.19.0.1399-31d8c803
When I’m streaming live TV from one of my HDHomeRun Quatro’s (I have two), TV plays normally for a while, and then it suddenly goes back to what I guess is the beginning of the buffer and repeats. It does this over and over. I’m not pressing any keys to make it go back. It does it automatically. The only way I can stop it is to stop the stream and go to the guide and start it again. This is a Windows 10 server, and I’m running the windows player on the same computer. It also does this if I access the server from a browser on that machine.
Additional information. Here’s more detail on the problem. I start watching live tv. It operates normally until the current program ends. When it does, the live session stops, and it starts playing at the spot in the stream that I joined it. In other words, it does the same thing it would do if I hit the 10 seconds back multiple times until it reached the beginning of the buffer, or if I were to drag the cursor back to there. But it does that without me doing anything. And it will keep doing this forever. We first noticed this because we’d say, wait, we’ve seen this before. As a matter of fact, we’ve seen this several times. The looping thing keeps on going on until you actually hit the X to stop the stream. If you then bring up that same channel, it does go back to real time. But if I want to watch live TV, I have to stop and restart the stream for the beginning of each program.
I was able to fix this problem. I can’t find the thread now, but somewhere on this forum, I found a thread about problems with the replay function on live TV with this current version, and in that thread was instructions for reverting to the previous version. I did that, and the problem went away. This leads me to believe that there is a bug in the current Windows player.
This is a known issue and has already been filed as a bug.
Thank you, Otto. I did not find it in my search.
I’m having the exact same problem. What version of the player did you revert back to?

Sorry, for some reason, I didn’t see this until now. I loaded 1.18.0.1392.cf94f6a1
I searched, but I don’t find anywhere that I can find out when this issue has been fixed. Can you provide me with this information?
Thanks.
Thanks for answering my request. How can I tell when this issue has been fixed? I have been unable to find a list of versions of the windows player and the changes that were made for each.
It looks like it will be until November. But don’t quote me on this, because this is strictly preliminary.
Thank you kindly!
For the record, this was very much still a problem as of 10/26/20 using the latest version. Downgrading to this old release fixed the problem 100 percent.

Thanks, guys. I’m not in a hurry. The older version I have loaded is working fine. But I’d like to be able to get in the update stream when I can.
Has this issue been fixed yet? I’d like to get back into the update stream. Also, where can I find out the features of the new updates as they come out? I have been avoiding new updates because of this issue for months now. This bug makes live TV not work at all. Live TV is one of the main reasons I subscribe to Plex.
Thanks.
AFAIK this has been fixed now.
You can see the release notes in this section of the forums: https://forums.plex.tv/c/announcements/5
Thanks. I really appreciate your help.
This is still VERY much a problem. Server #1.21.3.4021 on CentOS, Player #8.12.4.22902 on Firestick 4k.

I’ll confirm this is still happening however it is different now. Before the player would get to the end of a show and then loop back to the beginning from there.
Now, after a seemingly random period of time, playback will start skipping and will keep replaying the same 1 - 2 second clip over and over again. Going back 2 minutes in the buffer does not help. This particular issue started with version 8.12.4.22902.

I’m running Windows player version 1.27.2.1599-7689068b and Windows server version 1.21.2.3943, and I’m no longer having any problems with looping in the buffers. The only two problems I’m having is live TV stopping after playing for several hours, and the screen going blank when I rewind or fast forward. When it stops, I can start it up again, and when the screen goes blank, I can pause and play and the picture comes back.
confirm_rmilimited.com: This is correct!
Same issues reported here as confirm_rmilimited.com and wthalliii. Any eta on resolution Plex team?
I’m also having this issue starting with the last update. I assume the “fix” was suppose to address the live tv bug where it exited to the main menu after a few minutes of watching live tv on a Fire TV 4K but it’s even worse now with this loop.
