Live TV playback is re-loading past content into the future buffer

My live TV is suffering from a weird bug were the past few minutes of the live TV session get rebuffered into the session and my TV jumping back into that point in the past. It’s not an infinite loop, but it’s disrupting the Live TV viewing process and causing the playback scrubber to get out of sync as it the stream now has repeated segments in the session.

This appears to be an issue with how Plex is recording the Live TV session. At some point a chunk of already recorded Live TV gets tacked on to the end causing the segment to repeat. It seems to be happening at random.

Logs available on request.

DVR recordings appear to be unaffected by this.

I can also confirm the raw stream coming from the provider does not loop, or repeat.

i have the same issue on fire stick 4k with the latest plex pass server version.

Are you using xTeve as the tuner to pull m3u playlists to play in PLEX?

This may actually be the FFMPEG issue of not handling discontinuous timestamps.

Try testing the live tv by loading the xTeve m3u playlist into VLC and see if the issue persists.

As I mentioned before, DVR recordings are not affected, so it’s not likely the issue. Besides, xTeVe isn’t using FFMPEG.

Same problem here! HD Homerun connect duo, and xteve. My problem doesn’t occur on xteve channel. Only OTA channel.

Someone’s looking into the hdhomerun issue. I don’t use Xteve but I will let them know.

Unfortunately it’s private email. But I’ll ask them to reach out. it’s been very hard to get someone to respond. Took me 3 months. Last time I tagged an employee they stopped responding haha. Shouldn’t be this way but unfortunately it is. I’ll send an email to them now!

I know it was stated before, but this thread is basically the same issue, and I can say that it happens with any device you use as a tuner for the plex DVR, but for me only when my android device app is used to watch the liveTV tuners. Chrome and Roku for me work just fine. I can also say that on the android device, if I dont use the android app but instead open a web page, it works just fine too.

I have a HDHomeRun Quatro, HDHomeRun Prime, Locast2Plex, and DiszqueTV. They all have this issue but only when my android device app is used to watch the liveTV. Also, I noted on the other thread that this predictably happens if you look in the transcode directory when the files/parts reach 300 in number for sending to the playing device.

This is happening on Xbox and Windows. Not just Android.

Looks like this issue is being looked at by a few people at plex (as seen here). So hopefully something will happen soon.
