Live TV Not Working In Plex Windows APP

Server Version#: 1.18.0.1846
Player Version#: 1.3.1.916-1cb2c34d

When I try to access live tv, I keep getting:

There was an unexpected error

I’m also getting this error using the Plex app on Win client after upgrading to 1.18.0.1846 though my server is on Linux.

So far for me the problem is isolated to this one client (Plex app for Win). Live TV is working for me using PMP on Win, Roku, and Android mobile.

I had just finished upgrading to 1.18.0.1846 when I found this post. It had me running around to test to see if I needed an immediate downgrade. Assuming no other problems, I’m staying on 1.18 and PMP on Win will be my workaround until this is fixed.

Posting to confirm similar behavior. Plex for Windows fails when clicking on the Live TV tab. Viewing the Live TV tab in a browser works fine. Same server and player version as the original post.

Just adding my experience. Same symptoms.

DVR seems to be working fine in the background, and can stream fine to other clients. Only the Plex (for windows) client gives an error message when trying to access the “Live TV & DVR” tab.

P.S. I feel like the client and server should have distinguishable names for searching purposes. Calling the client simply “plex” makes it impossible to search because it finds all the references to the server. I tried to search for this problem when I first noticed it, but couldn’t filter out results talking about plex server for windows. Am I alone in this frustration?

Same problem must be change in player, as Browser works with my 3 servers, NAS, Shield, and Windows.

Exact same issue here! Live TV Works in all browser but not the plex for windows client! I get the same “there was an unexpected error” message and to please visit the forum… so here i am!

I have exactly the same problem. I’m running Windows 10 and this started after I updated to the latest media player version. The web app works fine and the DVR runs in the background fine.

Same problem as well. DVR works fine in background and fine in Plex Web App but not the Windows client with same error. Uninstalling and reinstalling did not help

Having the same problem. Looks as though the problem began with the server upgrade to 1.18.0.1846. Prior to this, everything was working fine.

Same issue…server is 1.18.0.1846 on MacOS Mojave. No live TV on native Windows or Mac clients, but web based clients work fine.

Just updated to Server 1.18.0.1906 on windows. Problem persists. Can’t access live TV and DVR tab from Windows app.
