may i ask why there is such a strange and limited focus on LiveTV by using some Antennas or HDHomerun only ?
Like today, i get an nice Email from PLEX LiveTV is here and then, when i check my region … sorry … Germany … ok …
there is a standard like SAT IP, personally i would prefer TVHeadend for example, but with an standard there are enough
hardware or software solutions out there … i really cant understand this, are there may such high licence costs ?
or what is the reason why the development is so poor here about LiveTV ?
SatIP works on all DVB Networks, is a standard, … i cannot understand why not.
When u see how many interest out there is about it … well, i live with the TVH NG channel plugin still, a standard should be
the way to go, at least when u want to reach a high comunity, my personal oppinion.
its your development and your way of course, but as buisness … really sad, cause the Rest is really nice, i switched all from
XBMC/Kodi mysql to PLEX, even your recognation of new stuff is way behind, why ever, but overall experience is great,
exept LiveTV …

Patience. We will be supporting SAT>IP but we have to start somewhere.
Does this include support for IPTV with m3u playlists in general? I have a Fritzbox cablemodem/router which can stream my DVB-C channels over a m3u playlists to clients like VLC
Would be nice to be able to just upload a m3u playlist and have the Plex server get the tv streams from local network.
@n0ahg It IS more like HDHR, but we need to implement CAM support and other stuff DVB requires, before we can start working through the long list of DVB-S devices, including SAT>IP support.
This is our first actual DVB implementation (outside of HDHR) since HDHR ‘shields’ us from having to do any of the heavy lifting with it, unlike USB tuners. Now once we make sure it’s rock solid (and works across all platforms) we’d work on adding features to it.
We’re not using the v4l-DVB kernel/userspace hacky library. And when I say CAM, I mean actual card modules, we won’t support softcam. Don’t want to get anyones hopes up.
SAT>IP is definitely in the works. We had to start somewhere.

Does that mean only CI CAMs or also the newer CI+ CAMs? Most providers here in Europe seem to only provide CI+ modules if you don’t want their own box.
if they add satip support then usually those network tuners have there CI modules inside, nothing PLEX should bother about,
for example i use my DD Octopus with CI as network tuner, newer Panas TV´s have it integrated, etc etc …
there are some network tuners, some with, some without CI … lets see what will happen
if they want to add CAM support its more likely for internal tuners with CAM modules, but thats usually not SATIP.
Thanks for the clarification, I was under the impression the DVR software had to support it as well? At any rate, we’re working towards this goal. Please be patient.

You would instantly gain support for all cards supported by v4l if you supported SAT>IP as I stated further back in this thread. You wouldn’t have to touch the v4l stuff at all
may any thoughts on bringing Plex to more tuners instead the HDHomerun devices only wich are not so common … ?
Or still only on that network tuners … as there are already workarounds to simulate a HDHomerun device with other network tuners it cant be that hard to just use the standard protocol …
