Hey, I have Live TV setup and can watch live shows fine, but when I record it doesn’t seem to work right. I never see the shows appear anywhere to watch, and if I catch them while airing, I can’t scrub back to before I started live. I’m not sure if I’m missing something in the UI or the recordings aren’t getting saved properly. Thanks in advance!
Small edit: I tried recording a different show manually (not scheduled) and it worked, showing up in TV Shows library and can be played from the DVR list, though Late Show never works. I also tried Jimmy Kimmel and it seems to have tried to record but is stuck in limbo at 100% for ~10m now and won’t complete. I was able to record an HD show and non-HD show now as well, so perhaps it’s related to scheduled recordings vs. manual?

I’ve been having some issues with recording reliability, see my other post here. On that post, though, shows either work or don’t. In this case, I set a movie to record and it seemed to start off fine, but then stopped 10m in with no error posted in the UI. I was able to tune into the channel and watch it fine.
Some errors of interest around the time:

Thanks for the reply! I have checked and verified I can at least sometimes record both movies and TV shows, so it’s able to write to both. Why I can’t reliably get Colbert show is still a mystery.
Same issue here in my “working” system which records Live TV with DVR for many shows. i.e. it’s not a permissions problem or any other “easy” fix. Plex has write full write access to the destination directory. Many shows, new, and repeat work (mostly).
Ubuntu 16.04 LTS x64
My “tuner” supports up to 4 simultaneous channels
Most of the time this system works as expected; records shows (even presidential debates, which terminated unexpectedly 20 minutes before the end which caused me to lose 3 channels worth of “post debate analysis” for each network)
Lets me watch a program currently being recorded giving me the option of watching from the beginning or at the current time.
Here is an example of one new recording which doesn’t work:
Why would this show appear in the Guide as a “New airing”, setup to record, but in the DVR say there are “No upcoming airings”?
BTW, the news casts continue to record just fine
I just noticed ABC World news says there are no upcoming airings. This show previously recorded itself just fine, last recording 1 Oct. Here is the next weeknight airing
Why is Plex recording some shows an not others?
So far I’ve missed recording the first two Star Trek Discovery shows. I know they aired because I stayed up and watched them. Nothing ever recorded. I can do the same with news casts and the same viewing behavior works with those recordings.
Thanks for sharing that you have similar issues, it’s definitely not configuration in my case either because I sometimes have it working great. When it does record I also see quirks like you, for example I can’t watch it in progress from the beginning (only live) or shows record one day and not the next. It’d be great if it at least logged the attempt in UI and shared a reason it failed, instead of failing silently.
Live TV feels a bit more like a novelty beta feature right now than something robust and reliable.
It’s happening to me as well. This week, out of 4 episodes of the Late Show only one actually exists (notice the play button). This is an always on server that I don’t tinker with so permission issues are out of question.
Star Trek Discovery probably didn’t record because it is Season 1, not Season 3. My fault for not noticing this detail, I was going by “NEW” in the “Guide”.
It’s a little early to tell, but turning off Locast Tuner Compression “Convert Video While Recording” feature (see below) improves things. Previously it was set to “Transcode.” Files saved to disk already appear to be H.264 ADTS Stereo with subtitles to a TS file.
