Programs I’ve recorded take around 20-30+ to appear in the library, no matter how much I refresh. I use it to record a programme that I normally miss the beginning of. I can’t watch the programme from the beginning when it’s half way through, meaning I have to wait until the end. Then, I have to wait for the programme to finish for ages. Am I’m doing something wrong?
Are you removing commercials from then recordings? If so, it’ll be processing the recordings to remove the commercials.
No, I don’t think you can remove commercials from TV shows, only movies. Or at least I haven’t switched it on for TV shows.
It’s a setting for all recordings, not just movies. You can set it for the DVR overall, or override it at the individual recording level.
I have got “remove adverts” set actually. Maybe that’s what’s taking so long. I was hoping, like other DVRs I’ve had, I could watch the content all ready recorded before it’s finished recording. Would be great if Plex could wait until I’ve finished watching it from the beginning to remove adverts IF situation occurs. Or maybe give me the option to forget about the as removal on the fly for specific shows. Quite easy to detect, if I select an option “watch from begining”. Shame, maybe this doesn’t exist, but I use to use this functionality constantly on other devices. When I’d get home half way through a baking show or football match! I don’t really want to wait for it to finish, and then remove ads. Maybe a specific scenario, but probably common one. I’ve been finding it quicker to watch The Bake Off on iPlayer after it had finished, even though I was home half way through an episode, Plex means I have to wait until the end + 20 mins’ish

Well, you can definitely start watching a program halfway through it recording, and go back to the start, I use this functionality every day. You can also disable commercial removal for specific shows if you wish. Otherwise, you’ll just need to wait for them to be removed. 
Have you got it configured to remove adverts? Maybe that’s why the option to watch from Beginning doesn’t appear for me.
Well, it does appear, it’s says “start from begining” but then starts right where it currently is anyway. Maybe an add removal issue?
Yeah, I have ads removed from my recordings.
What client are you seeing this behaviour on?
Pixel phone, Mac osx chrome., Roku (this doesn’t offer start from begining at all).
When the recording finishes it will be moved to your library. Whilst recording you can watch via the Guide.
I know I can’t watch via the guide, but I want to watch from the beginning. No point in recording a programme if I’m going to start watching half way through.
If I play from Guide while recording I get two options. Watch from Start and Watch Live.
Yeah, when I select “play from start” it just plays from the current location. If 5 mins I go back and try again, I can start from 5 mins ago, when I first tried to ‘play from beginning’, but not the actual beginning. Really odd.
Maybe because 2 things where recording? I only 2 way tuner.
Known bug by the looks. The latest PMS beta has the fix although it requires some tweaking by devs. Once out of beta your issue should be resolved.
