I’m running Plex Media Server version 1.13.5.5291 on a computer (3.3 GHz coreI7 X 980, 12 Gig RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760) under Windows 10 . I have a HD Homerun Prime with a CableCARD attached to my 802.11 ac network. I’m using the same computer running the plex media server to watch live tv on the plex media player. The problem is that the Live TV skips/buffers every 30 seconds to a minute. The recordings I make also skip. My computer and network should be fast enough to stream live tv, I would think. Does anyone have and suggestions on what’s wrong. How much network bandwidth is necessary for smooth Live TV?
I hope someone steps in to help because I’m having the same problem.
To add to the trouble shooting: I use a program called “Channels” on my itunes TV in order to watch TV directly from the HDHOMERUN box. When doing that, it’s perfect…zero stutter and perfect signal. As soon as I try playing anything through PLEX, it stutters and skips and chops and the TV randomly says “Poor connection”.
I’ve tried using the built in PLEX Server in my Netgear X10 as well as a high end gaming laptop…both have similarly poor performance. I’m new to using PLEX and this has never worked properly. Both have fully updated software.
Exact same experience here.
I asked about something similar about a month ago and didn’t get a response. Good luck. HDHomeRun windows store app works like butter, but the plex side always messes up recordings and also skips during live tv. Been that way for the 6 months I’ve tried to use it.
