Over the past couple of weeks, my Live TV tuning eventually fails to work. When this occurs, all tuners are affected. Restarting Plex (running in app mode) on the server will fix the issue temporarily.
As a troubleshooting measure (and because I’m at my wits end on this issue), I also have installed Emby, which is not having this issue. When Plex Live TV fails, Emby continues to work.
No recent changes have been made to my setup. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I am still testing/validating, but this may have been resolved by replacing the network cable and/or switch port to my Plex server. I noticed when the issue occurred in the log, that all 3 network-based HDHomeruns were marked as “DEAD” in the main Plex log file, while the PCI-based Hauppauge cards actually continued to function. I will update this thread if this was not the solution.
This is occurring yet again. I have updated my Intel NIC drivers (I225V) and even have gone so far to swap the network switch. If someone from Plex support could review my previous logs, that would be great.
I feel quite confident this is not a network issue at this point, but some sort of a Plex bug. I have Emby also running on this server - Emby has zero issues with the network-based tuners.
The only other thing I could do is replace the onboard NIC with something else, but my previous Plex server started having this same exact issue toward the end of it’s life - and where the newly built server took over. I’ve replaced the network switch entirely, new network cables, updated drivers, and 4 separate hdhomerun tuners all drop at the same time.
I fired up wireshark and did not find any network related errors, but strangely enough, I noticed ICMP traffic going to my old (retired / offline) plex server. I then found the IP in the Plex logs, but I can’t figure out where this reference may live. Any thoughts anyone?
The old retired / offline server IP is highlighted in the screenshot.
EDIT: I recognize the ports now as old xteve ‘tuners’ from my old server. Where are these values being stored, as these are not exposed as tuners in the UI. The old server was fully decommisioned.
Okay, I found the entries in the database. Do I simply need to stop Plex, delete the rows where uri like ‘%10.0.1.10%’, and then restart Plex to get it to stop trying to connect to these tuners which no longer exist?
Thanks, sixxnet! I will try that when I have time in the morning. One last thing I’m also seeing is this block of errors approximately every 2 minutes.
