My Android TV has the Plex client installed and up to date (v5.10.2.354), but even though Live TV/DVD is enabled in the server, and the Tuner is available (and works with other devices), no TV section is available in the TV’s Plex client, nor on my iOS device (which is also up to date - at least, there are no updates available).
Any idea what could be wrong?
The announcement says it is being rolled out today.
It wasn’t available on my Shield, but once i rebooted my Shield the live tv option was there in the client.
I did try restarting the TV, which didn’t work. The announcement I received via email said “Live TV now available on Android TV and iOS devices (more coming soon!), recordings can be viewed on all Plex clients. Additional hardware required.” - so there wasn’t any indication that it wasn’t turned on…?
It requires NVidia Shield TV v5.2 to be installed, which starts rolling out today in a phased manner over a period of time.
My server is a Synology… there’s no Shield involved. Just a regular Android TV.
Some have had an issue where they need to ‘clear cache’ on the Plex Client in order for it to show up.
You are running 1.7.2.3878 on your Synology right? And have configured DVR in the Server settings on http://plex.tv?
I assume android tv is different then android phone ap? I see it on my ipad but not on my phone. tends to stutter a lot. Any chance of increase buffer / cache size so this doesn’t happen?
Android TV is different, yes. What are you running Plex Media Server on? iOS requires transcoding currently, so you won’t get the best performance if its on a low powered device such as a NAS.
