Live TV transcodes 1080i and stops working after a couple minutes on 4kfirestick

Bassically as title states. I know the issue of 1080i content transcoding is a known issue that has been going on for a while but just thought I would mention it. Along with that issue basically what happens while watching live tv after a while I will get the buffer wheel and basically nothing will happen until i back out and retune to the channel. I have isolated this to the Firestick Plex app issue. Emby live tv on firestick worked no issue and Plex worked no issue on PC windows app. One tidbit of info that might be useful is I noticed on the Server Pc that the Transcode process for the stream would stop for some reason.

Same issue here. Glad it’s not just me.

To narrow down the device here… I had multiple streams going on both of my firestick 4k, roku, and computer. Both firesticks stopped at the exact same time.

I am having the same issue. This appears to be taking place only on my firesticks. Tested on Windows and I do not have the problems:

  1. Tune channel and after a few minutes buffer wheel and no recovery.
  2. Select DVR Schedule and try to play recorded show, does nothing.

I have restarted both the server and the firesticks, no joy.

Potential work around for the fire stick go into setting and under advanced turn off transcode interlaced live tv. It seems to be an issue with live tv transcoding and direct play works with no real issue

Hello. I have just bought a HD Homerun Quattro and I am using Plex DVR. Looking for a client for the bedroom for live TV and timeshifting. Is the issue fixed now with 1080i TV direct playing rather than transcoding on the Fire Stick 4K?

Is this in the setting for the Plex app? I have been having this same issue for a while now and it’s insanely frustrating!

Yes that worked great thanks. On the Firestick App go to settings at the bottom left and under advanced at the bottom scroll right to Transcode Interlaced TV and turn it off. I couldn’t get 4 continuous minutes of the 1080 channels previously.
