I have Plex running in a TrueNas/BSD jail.
I’ve recently purchased 2 TV tuner boxes, VBox. One for Satellite and one for Terrestrial TV.
I was able to add them successfully to Plex. As Live TV tuners. The problem is, that only one of them works (the terrestrial TV one).
From looking through the logs, it sea that Plex is sending the request for both the TV and Satellite channels to the same IP (the IP of the TV box).
This sounds like a bug in Plex. As they works fine on other media servers.
I even deleted both the tuner boxes from Plex. And just added back the Satellite one. But it’s still pointing the traffic to the terrestrial TV IP, even though it’s not configured anywhere in Plex any more.
I tried optimising the database and cleaning the bundles. I tried rebooting. Still always pointing to the wrong IP.
I searched the Plex files for references of the Terrestrial TV IP address and found it in the com.plexapp.plugins.library.db file.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to get Plex to point to the correct IP?
Perhaps modifying the db file manually.
Thanks

Tuner Make/Model: VBox
Using XMLTV?: Yes
Stop hosting two different Live TV tuners on the same instance of PMS. There is no reason to do this unless both Live TV tuners share the same identical channels. Instead, set up a second instance of PMS for the second tuner. This is what I do without issues. Both servers still show up under “Live TV”.
If you’re wondering how to run a second instance of PMS on the same machine it can be done using Docker.
Why is there an option to add multiple live tv tuners, if Plex only supports one?
I have a Live TV tuner for terrestrial tv (aerial) and a separate one for satellite tv. They are on different boxes/IPs.
I don’t really want to have to switch between 2 different plex installs if I have to. I assume. I would also need to pay for 2 instance of plex premium a month too.
It doesn’t sound worth the hassle. I’ll just go with Emby, it supports multiple tuners.
You don’t need to pay for Plex twice for two servers. Both servers are linked to your existing account and show up in Plex Web simultaneously, it’s a drop down menu to switch between them.
Plex does support multiple tuners with the SAME LINEUP. 1) you can’t mix Plex EPG with XMLTV and 2) you can’t have two different guides from two different sources displaying at the same time because there could be conflicts in the channel numbers between the two tuners. eg: same channel number different name.
The way I said is the best way. Both servers show up under “Live TV” and is simple to navigate. But go use Emby, it literally works the same way.
Anyways. If I’m not mistaken there is a bug using multiple IP tuners that’s discussed in another thread but doesn’t invalidate what I said above.
The other answer is that it COULD work the way you want under limited circumstances using a custom XMLTV guide.
I don’t have multiple tuners with the same line up.
I have one tuner for terrestrial (irish) TV. About 12 channels.
And a separate tuner for satellite (UK) TV. About 100 channels.
There are no clashes of channels.
Each tuner box does provide xmltv listings of needed. But plex seemed to get this info itself from somewhere.
My problem is, I can add both the tuners to Plex, get all the correct channels and link to the correct listings. But when I try to play anything from the 2nd tuner, Plex attempts to connect to the 1st tuner’s IP instead and so fails.
