I have been a Plex Pass user for years and I very much enjoy the benefits of it. After following the progress of the new DVR and Live TV I decided it was time to purchase a HDHR tuner and take this for a test drive. It works great but to my disappointment it seem only the account holder can view live TV, What gives with this? How is a family of 5 with kids supposed to use this system? When is this going to support all my users???
In the end as good as this works I am extremely disappointing to have hit this limitation and if not changed I may have to look for another option for live TV.
This is a ridiculous limitation that is upsetting a lot of Plex Pass users, Hope they fix this quick or like many I will be dropping my Plex Pass and moving on. This does not meet the demand of the Plex user base. If its not ready then don’t make it available. Plex you had to know this limitation was going to upset your loyal Plex Pass users. Please fix this ASAP
I knew this was beta but didnt realize that it was only allowed on the main account until i bought the equipment. I have tested and works okay from what i could tell. Only if opened to other accounts can i further test. Is there a way to vote on this and other features as a plex pass member?

Unfortunately nothing has been said at this time as to when that could change.
Does Plex really think this restriction is good and workable? I can’t use it this way. Can’t give up all the STB’s in the house till this is fixed. Any word on this yet? For that matter is this even going to get changed??
I am sure they do not like having the restriction. I am sure if it’s possible to share they are working on it. Why would you think they like having this restriction?

I think they like not worrying about their involvement in a rebroadcasted television lawsuit. But in reality, it’s just another feature for them on the mountain of features they are working on. It’s prioritized wherever they feel appropriate relative to the other things.

I think that is a lot of it is they are trying to figure out the legalities of it. I still think they want to do it if they weren’t they would just come out and say it’s not possible due to legalities. It wouldn’t make sense for them to allow customers get upset about it when they have the answer.
Its probably just a technical limitation right now of writing the code for an admin to delegate rights to a non-admin on the same plex account to being able to do things to the recording schedule, record new, and engage a tuner for live.
That part shouldn’t be legally an issue at all, Tivo allows remote viewing since sometime in 2016 I think.
Sharing with Plex friends is probably the only place to be careful, and probably only for Live tv, as you can record a vhs tape of something aired and let a friend borrow it… unless its NFL lol.
I just wanted to say hats off to the Plex team for getting this sorted out and getting it working for all my family members. I can now have peace of mine knowing I don’t have to share the main account just so my family can use Live TV…
