Live TV with Hauppauge WinTV quadHD

Just got the quadHD. It works fine with the Hauppauge software, but when I try to use it with Plex, the channel scan fails (never gets past 0%). When I try to scan again, I can’t even click the “Scan” button. When I restart the Live TV & DVR setup process, Plex cannot find the quadHD in the compatible devices screen.

I’ve tried uninstalling WinTV and only using the Hauppauge drivers…still not working. Using 1.11.1.4730, but was getting the same problem in 1.10.1.4602.

Anyone else have this issue?

I had an issue. But my computer wouldn’t load it at all. It was trying to load generic drivers and just being a pain. I messaged Hauppauge through FB messenger and they got right back to me and helped troubleshoot. They got it working. When I went to Plex it found it right away and loaded fine.

I am having the same exact issue.

I’m having a problem with a new WinTV-dualHD tuner not working well when running on Plex. The problem is excessive buffering. The WinTV tuner works great when just running the V8.5 software that came for WinTV. So the problem doesn’t look like the tuner, or antenna. I’m wondering if the WinTV tuner just doesn’t work well with Plex Live TV. The Plex version is 1,11.0.4666. Are any other WinTV users having this problem? Should I just get rid of WinTV, and get HDHomerun ?

excessive buffering.

Hey Mate, I have the Hauppauge Quad, and also experience the constant buffering. I use the Xbox one app as my P.M.P. so it may be that for me, havent tried another device yet. It is transcoding it, but i cant find a setting to play in original format

Not much help - however I just received the WinTV-dualHD from Amazon last night. Installed the latest drivers (drivers only) and the channel scan worked fine - pulled in the 29 channels that are available to me OTA. Channel scan did not take long - maybe a few minutes.
I am not sure which Plex server version I am on - however I just installed it 2d ago so I ‘assume’ its the latest.

Challenge for me was that all thought it found the mix of US and Canadian channels that I can already watch on my TVs the EPG would not load the data for ALL the channels. I could not ‘map’ the the US channels.

I decided to re-scan and chose a US zip code that was equal distance from CN tower and the US towers - end result? Only the US EPG were loaded.

Re-scanned again and this time I selected a postal code based closer to the CN tower and this time Plex loaded/mapped all the 29 channels for me. Not sure how that all worked but it did.

No buffering on my end. I am only running an i5 4400 w/8gb RAM. Not the speediest PC in today’s world.

I have the WinTV-quadHD and can now watch live TV, but not record. I added them as two Plex DVR devices, each having two tuners. I guess that’s normal. It says it’s recording and give me 100% complete, but no files are ever saved. No errors in the logs. i5 6600 / 16GB

Hey Guys - Got my problem straightened out. After doing a Passmark Rating on my old computer I realized it wasn’t quite fast enough with a 2369 CPU rating. I purchases a refurbished Dell OptiPlex 7010 i7 that had a CPU rating of 9022, and now everything is working great with no buffering.
