I have everything setup, but the ProgramGuide doesn’t appear in the iOS app anywhere. I’ve deleted and re-added my tuner several times now… deleted and reinstalled the iOS app…

I’ve been using the DVR service on its own for quite some time now, and it worked fine. I even see Program Guide in the Manage section of the web interface…

Live TV or Program Guide in iOS? Nada.

Perhaps you need to update PMS? I’m on Version 1.7.2.3878.

Media Server version 1.5.5.3634 “No updates available”.

Are you on the plex pass update channel?

in the iOS app you click browse, program guide, watch now.

Yes, it’s definitely in the released ios app. I’m trying it out from the office as I type this.

Ok, why am I not seeing this in my iOS app? I checked for updates, none available. I have had the DVR set up for months with HDHomerun (working great for recording). But no option in the iOS app to see Live TV. I do not see “Programming guide” in Browse view. What else could I be missing here?

PMS update is the only thing i can think of.

What version of the ios app do you have. Mine is 4.12.1. You can check in the ios app by going to settings and scrolling to the bottom.

Ya, that is what I am thinking as well regarding the PMS update. I am on 1.5.5.3634. I check for updates, but none available. I went to the Plex site to download the latest version there, and it is still 1.5.5.3634.

Do you happen to know how I can get 1.7.2?
Thanks!

Edit: Ok, I had to go in through my plex pass account into the downloads section. I see 1.7.2 there for download.

Edit 2: Works great!

Thanks for the version info. I found that my updates were not working. Downloaded manually and all is working now.

I guess not; I didnt need that for the DVR beta… I always assumed that was akin to the “nightly build” channel and generally unstable.

They really should make that more clear when they announce new features like this. Using the Plex Pass channel isn’t discussed in conjunction with LiveTV anywhere.

ahh, thanks @ac4lt

So the final question is that I can just use a USB tuner with an external antenna right?

I ask this because I’m looking at the setup page for the DVR function on my PMS, and it’s looking for a network device.

Wanted to be clear that LiveTV will work with a USB attached device that has an antenna attached to it.

I can’t speak to that with any confidence as I use a network tuner. But the blog post said that they expanded support to include some USB tuners so check out the list of supported devices to see if yours is one of the ones listed.

It’s not nightly but more frequent than the public update channel. And more likely to have issues but usually not too bad.

Also, to get latest version of iOS app you need to be on iOS 9.3+

I believe it will be fine. I’m currently testing with a USB Hauppaugge Tuner with some success. I am testing with a basic cable connecting though and NOT an antenna.

How did you get PMS to recognize the USB Tuner?

@carpenike How did you get PMS to recognize the USB Tuner?

Plugged into PC that is running PMS via USB. One thing to note, I had this thing running with other software so it’s possible that certain drivers are required.

Open PMS and go to settings—>Set up DVR—>It was found almost instantly

This sucks! Plex has no tech support. I will cancel my subscription!
