LiveTV doesn't work without internet

Server Version#: Version 1.19.5.3112 (And the past 4+ updates at least)
Player Version#: Any
Tuner Make/Model: HDHomeRun Quattro
Guide/Lineup name: Any
Using XMLTV?: No
Channel number/Name: Any

When there is no internet, LiveTV will not work, nor will record. This completely defeats the purpose of “cord-cutting”.

I believe the term cord-cutting refers to cutting the “cable” company cord. Yes you still need the internet to download the program guide as well as a few other features.

I understand what cord cutting means. I understand that the guide must be refreshed. But when the guide pulls data for the next 12ish days, and the internet goes out, plex should still be able to tune into a tuner that pulls local broadcasts and record them. It doesn’t need the internet to tune to an already cached guide, nor tune into something without a guide.

I’ve brought this up many times and the irony of it is (given the founder of Plex’ stand on DRM in “open letter” many years ago) that this is Plex DRM.

You cant use “Plex home” (switch accounts), Plex Live TV or some other Plex pass features without internet.
You will get some BS from “support” that you cant authenticate users without internet but - whats stopping Plex SERVER doing authentication or caching already used authentication tokens for weeks/months ?

Wow, is this true? That might be a “show stopper” for me.
