I was lucky enough to have a full weekend internet outage. As a result, decided to use Plex to watch some TV at night. I noticed a couple things, but the one that caused a problem, I was unable to watch my OTA TV through Plex Live TV/DVR. I did some looking and I am not the first person that was caught with this.

I have two questions:

  1. Is there a setting or work around to allow for Plex DVR to work without internet, especially if the guide has enought cached data to run a couple weeks.
  2. If there is not a setting or work around for this, what will it take to make this happen?

Part of the reason I have Plex is because I live in a rural area and wanted my own product to use if my internet drops for a while.

My Centurylink DSL has been down again for over 24 hours… just discovered watching live TV through plex is not possible. Really? The other local recorded TV shows and movies work. Local content works without internet, why would local Channels through my HD homerun be any different. I understand the guide may not be 100% accurate, if it hasn’t updated recently… but it should at least work to view the channels.

Seems like a ridiculous Plex issue. You guys find any workarounds?
