LiveTV is Broken AGAIN!

Have changed quality to as 4g ie reduced bandwidth to 320 lines - no improvement. Unlike windows I am unable to roll back on my ASUSTOR NAS as the old PMS 1.13 files are gone so will have to wait for Plex to find out what they broke going to 1.14. Prior to then my Plex system was stable for over 6 months.

Hey, SuperMatt, what is your current configuration with your Plex DVR set up? When I try to record with the NVIDIA Shield Plex with a external HD attached via USB, I get stuttering and pixelation. Have even tried writing to internal storage with the same results.

My server is an older Mac Pro (the metal rectangular solid, not the black cylinder). I don’t have stuttering or pixelation on it. I can watch live TV using the Mac app on it, and it records TV fine, and I watch recorded shows without any issues as well. The only problems are the Live TV issue with Apple TV and iOS, and a problem where the TV database gets stuck on “initializing” - which many other people have as well.

Very similar setup and results as @SuperMatt. I also have a Classic Mac Pro running PMS but also have a newer i7 Ubuntu PMS instance & everything is hardwired.

I have tried configuring my HDHomeRun Prime on both PMS servers, and the LiveTV issue persist from any of my iOS & tvOS clients.

I am able to use LiveTV from PMP on OS X and also the Plex Client on a Shield without issue from either PMS.

@SuperMatt are you able to get Live TV to load after selecting a channel then pulling down on the Apple remote and selecting Playback Settings and select any video stream (even the one that’s already checked), does this workaround work for you too?

Some channels load fine for me on the first try.

If memory serves me correctly, I think he actually found that work around. I can say for me pulling down and selecting Playback Settings -> another video stream does work for LiveTV channels that do not load automatically.

I have also found that if I start Live TV on another client, and then start watching that same channel from an iOS or tvOS client, the stream will start without issue.

Finally I can revert either PMS back to version 1.13.8.5395 and the the issue is non-existent.

If I downgrade back to the .5395 build I experience occasional issues that can be fixed with the workaround I suggested. However, any newer version of the server pops up the error and kicks back to the show selection screen, so there is no workaround.

I will try your method - watch a tv show on the Mac player client then try the iOS one and see if that works.

UPDATE: It doesn’t work. I’ll fiddle with other settings on the server and see if I can find my own solution.

Those having the same problem when trying to watch live TV (error message every time you try to watch something), I think you should try the latest update Plex released today. I am watching live TV right now with this version.

Had to use the old “workaround” once or twice when I got the spinning wheel on a blank screen.

It has been better with the latest updates, although still not totally resolved. @hsousa posted in one of the other threads that they likely have located the issue.

Looks like it may be addressed with the latest beta
