Local and synced content still plays from the original server location

Every time I sync media to my Nexus 6P, the content will download and be available, but if I have an active internet connection on the phone the media will not play from the local source, instead it will play from the server that has the original file. This can be reproduced over and over again. Currently on 5.4.0.715, but this was on at least the previous version.

You can see from the screenshot that the “TV Shows” shows it’s connected to Family Server, but the TV show I synced is on the phone. Why would it play from the online server instead of local content?

I just noticed another issue regarding the synced content. There’s a setting that says prefer synced content over streaming, which is enabled. But the local content is ignored and the streaming content is played.

You can manualy select from which server/device you want to play your media files.
If you want to play your synced items you need to select your local device (as far as I know).
But the settings you are talking about make me wonder too. :-/

@kegobeer-plex Sorry you’re having problems with the app.

In the screenshot you posted, that “Family Server” subtitle means that TV shows synced content came from that server, not that the content is loaded from it. This is done to differentiate possible TV shows content synced from multiple servers.

In order to investigate the issue, could you post some logs. You can grab them from Settings / Advanced / Privacy / Email device logs
