Local Artwork Naming Convention

Server Version#: 1.25.0.5282

So I see in the Local Media Assets documentation the fanart can have the same name as the movie filename plus “-fanart” but the poster naming convention is quite different. Why the inconsistency? Why not allow the same naming convention as the fanart, i.e. movie filename plus “-poster”?

I notice you can have movie filename.jpg for the poster but that’s somewhat of an assumption it’s the poster image or just poster.jpg, which again is meaningless as to which movie it relates to other than it’s in the same folder as the movie…

I suppose it’s all a question of definitions.
I can only guess that there also might be a “historic” component to why an image named like the movie is considered to be the poster – the other types have probably only been added later and somebody decided not to break compatibility with the original schema.

Well apparently the “-poster” option currently works anyway, it’s just not referenced in the official documentation

I switched from using the TMDB agent to the new plex both with local media assets checked. the 1st agent wasn’t pulling the local “-posters” but the new plex agent is :man_shrugging:
