Where does Plex Server show me its local IP so I can connect to it from other devices? The instructions I read do not match the actual app.
The IP to connect to Plex is the IP of the computer you installed it on.
Open cmd and type ipconfig, than Enter
Just another example of the Plex creators having no idea how to make it user friendly.
Or simply check the determined local IP under Settings > [Server Name] > Remote Access. This should show your private IP (local IP of the PMS) as well as the public one (usually the IP of your router).
Why does everyone post a path that doesn’t exist? I don’t have a “Server Name” or the words Server Name listed under Settings, and under Media Server—General there is no IP listed.
Also how come I can’t set a User Name because it says “Username has already been taken” even though it also tells me the username has not been set? This is the buggiest, most convoluted app I’ve ever used.
It’s a placeholder for the name of your server.
Here’s an example from my server which is called “Panoptikum”

I know what you meant, but you weren’t clear about how it appears. It’s yet another example of the Plex developers not applying logic. I don’t want remote access so I turned it off. My local access still works, so why must I activate Remote Access just to see the local IP? Dumb.
And what you showed is two different categories, not a linear path.
There’s another setting which may be useful here:
Settings (Server Name) → Network → Preferred network interface

By default it is set to “Any.” It lists all interfaces (and their IP addresses) on which Plex can listen and allows you to select which one is preferred for local connections.
If your server and Plex clients are logged in with your Plex account, you won’t need to manually establish a connection.
I suppose that’s not what you’re looking for – just as a side note for whoever might run into this thread in the future.
