Local Media Extras with Multiple Movie Editions

Strange issue getting local extras to show up:

Folder: E:\Movies\Fantasy\Legend (1986)
If there are 2 “editions” of Legend in this folder, the extras do not show up.

Extras are in subfolders: “Behind The Scenes” and “Shorts” - though the same behavior occurs with inline extras.

So:
E:\Movies\Fantasy\Legend (1986)
E:\Movies\Fantasy\Legend (1986)\Legend (1986).mp4
E:\Movies\Fantasy\Legend (1986)\Legend (1986) {edition-Directors Cut}.mp4
E:\Movies\Fantasy\Legend (1986)\Behind The Scenes
E:\Movies\Fantasy\Legend (1986)\Behind The Scenes\Making of Legend.mp4
E:\Movies\Fantasy\Legend (1986)\Shorts
E:\Movies\Fantasy\Legend (1986)\Shorts\Is Your Love Enough.mp4

If I remove either “edition”, the extras show up.

I thought perhaps its because the Library points to E:\Movies and not E:\Movies\Fantasy - but placing the Legend folder in a top-level folder (where the Library point to that top-level folder with only movie folders underneath) didn’t resolve the issue either.

I’ve removed the items, cleaned bundles, and re-added, but nothing I’ve done can seem to correct the issue. The local extras always show up until I give it a second edition of the movie, then they disappear.

Just to test it I created a completely new library in plex (pointed to E:\TEST) and just put the Legend folder in it. Same behavior!

The library is using the “Plex Movie” scanner and the “Plex Movie” agent.

Good luck,

You need to put your editions in their own folder. The scanner needs to know which edition the extras are under.

So move your Director’s Cut to:
E:\Movies\Fantasy\Legend (1986) {edition-Directors Cut}\Legend (1986) {edition-Directors Cut}.mp4

Yes! That was it! Thank you. I ended up making a second copy of the extras to live in the Director’s Cut folder, but I get why it’s set up that way as one could have extras that only pertain to one edition of a movie.

Love this feature… it’s been needed for a long time. I wish the edition tags showed up on Roku, though, because the only way to know what edition you’re in on Roku is either by the poster (if one has added or selected a specific edition poster) or if one edits the actual description. Roku won’t even show me that there are other editions of a movie, but maybe it’s just not supported yet. I’ll check out the thread mentioned above and see what I can find.

Thanks again for the solution. It works!

I will just close by saying that the plex-provided instructions actually seem 100% clear on this now that I read it a third time. I don’t know how I missed that section!
