Local meta data ignored

Server Version#: 1.40.5.8921

Hello!

All my TV shows files have META data added to them (all are either MP4 or M4v) and used to show perfectly in Plex all the seasons and episodes were there. I had to re-install my server and now when I add these shows in, its thinks there are only 1 season and no other episodes or seasons are showing. Here is what the files look like.

If I start moving the files into folders for their season, they do show up correctly.

Is there a way to make Plex forced to use local meta data? I tried to set that up under the Advanced settings, but when I try and save, I get Your changes could not be saved..

Any help would be appreciated!

At a minimum you need 1 folder per show and S#E# in the file name. Your naming schema is far from the recommended format.

Yeah, the file format is not ideal, but I have been using it this was for 2 years. When I had to re-install the server, it isn’t working. This is only for TV Shows. I have another library for Movies and it is reading the local meta data. Is there no way to fix that for TV Shows?

Fix your naming schema, and it will pull local metadata

Yes, I know that but I have hundreds of files. I don’t understand why it isn’t using the local meta data. It had been for over 2 years. It’s an actual setting in Plex, but it isn’t working.

No, you got lucky with one of the old scanners or version of the scanners and it imported your media. As the scanner evolved, support for non-standard formats was slowly dropped. Your setup is so wrong its scary, If you have embedded metadata using a renamer should allow you to fix your file structure.
