Hello! I’m running PMS Version 1.1.0.2611 on a Synology DS1515+. I have a few music videos loaded Inline and in a Global Music Video Folder to add to my Premium Music Library. However, none of them are showing up. I just found out about the Vevo changes, but I’m surprised to see the local videos are not appearing. The “Music Videos” button on iOS is greyed out and no TV icons appear on songs with videos. Also, nothing appears through the Web Player.
Any help/guidance would be helpful.
How are your video files named?
How are the music files named with which the videos shall be associated?
Are they in the same folder?
Did you refresh the artist after adding the videos?
Inline Videos are named as per the guidelines. [Match Audio Track Name] - [Description-Type].[EXT].
The music files are [Track number] [Song Name].[EXT]. Not quite to guidelines, but they are well tagged. The format matches iTunes.
The inline videos are in the same video, but I do have a Global Music Videos folder as well. These are named [Artist]/[Description-Type].[EXT].
I’ve refreshed the library a few times this week to add new music (and lock the meta data fields to avoid the “Plex Dance”.)
May I see examples of actual file names, please?
Global:
The Doors\Crawling King Snake (Footage from The Doors rehearsal space filmed for Australian TV, 1971)-live.MKV
King Crimson\Live in Bonn, 6 June 2000-concert.mp4
Inline:
01 The Changeling - The Changeling (Music Video)-video.MKV

So I take it, the music track is just called 01 The Changeling.mp3
, right?
Have you verified that the ‘Local Media Assets’ agent is ‘checked’ under
Settings - Server - Agents - Albums - last.fm
Settings - Server - Agents - Albums - Plex Premium Music
Settings - Server - Agents - Artists - last.fm
Settings - Server - Agents - Artists - Plex Premium Music
(all 4) ?
Have you ever before used ‘local assets’ for music (like embedded or ‘sidecar’ cover art or lyrics in .txt
files)? Or have you tried and it never worked?
Yes, similar. 01 The Changeling.m4a
.
Yes, I just verified that the “Local Media Assets” agent is checked under each of the setting you listed. Also, the local music video folder is configured under the cog on for that agent: /volume1/Videos/MusicVideo/
.
I’ve only added lyrics to only one song in a .txt
file, and I just checked. It is working.
Does the global video folder contain a subfolder or a filename with a non-ascii character like ß äüö ó ù í etc pp ?
These are known to disturb the Local Media Assets agent on the Linux-based platforms so it doesn’t work.
Same applies to the local videos. Is there a scppecial character in any of the files in that folder or in the folder names above it?
If there isn’t, please
-
activate debug logging (not ‘verbose’!)
- quit Plex Server
- wait 1 minute
- empty the log folder
- start Plex Server
- wait 2 minutes
-
refresh one artist to which you added some videos
- wait 5 minutes
- shut down Plex server
- wait 1 minute
- zip up the whole log folder and attach it here
