Local network video playback ok, remote does not work

Version 20.4.3517
Running on Windows 10 x64, libraries on NAS device

An issue rised during this weekend. I was notified by one user, that he cannot view any videos from the server, thus he can play musics from the same server.

On local network all of the videos work like they should
On mobile broadband (read: External networks) Settings show full connectivity and the content of the server can be browsed. However, anything else than music, shows directly a message that “Error: Media cannot be played”

What has been done:

  • All network devices has been restarted, as well Plex server machine. All settings have been gone through
  • The TV show library was recreated due investigation purpose
  • I’m able to test this though 2 different Android devices, they result the same. Remote user was trying to watch shows with Playstation 4 Plex app.

So this means, that the server connection to the NAS drive works ok. Server can find new content and for example optimize content. But you cannot playback other than music from external network.

Any ideas what could cause this?

Did you enable this?

If so, turn it off and see if that’s the problem.

As a matter fact, that was enabled. Thanks - will see if that makes difference.
