I am running multiple android devices. I have a Plex NAS Server set up on a WD My Cloud device. The server is set up for and has full remote access enabled. As far as the NAS Server is concerned the Remote access is available and working.
I can log in remotely from the Android Plex App from my devices. I can see my library. However when I select an item to play I get an error message from Plex that Reads "Unable to play Media’.
I have found that changing the android app settings to use an External Player like VLC or the default Samsung Media Player that is with my devices. That when then selecting the item within Plex the link t the external player is activated and the item will play. This indicating that Plex has full remote access and is able to play the item from my NAS server.
I am wondering why the issue then appears to be with Plex remotely activating the Plex Player ?? as the player works fine from the devices when they are connected directly to the local network.
Anyone with suggestions as while I can access content remotely by using the external player software I loose the tracking ability on what I’ve watched within Plex ? Or is there a fault with the Plex Player ??
